Well, it's been a long wait (as it has been for all of us).

We have been patiently waiting for our approval at CSC. Went sent in our application at the end of July.

I travelled to Hawaii to visit my husband last week. I decided today that enough was enough, we haven't even had a touch on our file since our NOA1 date. We used the RFE trick and called someone at USCIS. After a short wait, my husband had the opportunity to speak with someone. He basically said, we're nearing month #7, and NOTHING has been done with our file. Could you please let me know what is the hold up, or if we've missed an RFE or something.

The lady on the line said "hang on a second and let me pull up your file. What do you mean nothing has happened on your file, it was sent to the NVC last month?"

Husband says "ummmmm, our case status says pending, and I haven't had a letter or anything. Does that mean we're approved?"

USCIS says "Yes, your file was approved on February 15. We sent it over to NVC already. You should be getting a letter from them shortly."

Husband says "thanks for your time."

What a seriously messed up system. I have been like RainMan for the past two months on the case status online - checking everyday for something/anything.

But happy happy all the same! We celebrated with a plane tour of the volcano and a little body boarding.

So to all you July/August Filers patiently waiting who haven't heard anything for USCIS - give them a call and see what they've managed to mismanage.

Somewhere on this site is the RFE trick with the proper prompts to speak with a human being quickly.

Good luck all!

LOL. I know!

I guess USCIS has a new MO - Under-promise and Over-deliver. Let people think they're still waiting, and when they finally call, give them the good news. Maybe the call centre staff was getting sick of bad news all the time, this way ever 1% of the time, they get to give some good news.

Of course not believing anything said from USCIS, since stories seem to change with each phone call - we called NVC to see if they did in fact have our file on March 10.

We listened to the automated msg and it said that they had the file and sent letters to Beneficiary and Petitioner on March 10.

No letters in the mail yet, so I asked that Chris call to make sure they actually have our file and sent the letters, since we still don't have a letter from USCIS, and our USCIS case status online still says received and pending.

He got the letters delivered at work today. Chris has changed his address 2x since we filed. Used his work address for a couple of months, then once he found a place to rent in HI he uses that address.

Since we didn't know that NVC had our file, we didn't update our address with them. Also we assumed that USCIS would provide our most up to date addresses when they transfered our file.

Well fortunately, Chris lived in a small town in Alaska, where the postmaster knew Chris personally, and knew he had moved in August. When his mail from NVC arrived last week, she asked around town for his new address. His old boss knew which stn he had transfered to, and gave her that address. Hence the letter showing up at work today.

Its been a comedy of errors.

Question: Do we need a copy of the letter from USCIS for our interview or anything?

I am starting to think that we do . . .

Yes you will definitley need a copy of your USCIS approval notice (NOA2) for interview. I've known people to get a blue slip for not having it when asked at the interview....making them have to wait another 6 weeks to interview again and bring it.

My Husband went for his IR1 interview in Montreal on February 19th - he was not asked for his NOA1 or NOA2.

Every consulate is different, every CO is different, so it surely is a good idea to go ahead and see if you can track one down with them.

If you are having trouble getting a copy, then it would be a good idea to email Montreal and explain the situation beforehand.

Good luck

Thanks Trailmix! I'm gonna have Chris try call USCIS/NVC next week, and follow up with a letter to our file. That way we have a paper trail of requesting it.
