Hey everyone,

I have been looking at some of the other CSC filers and they have been touched multiple times. I have yet to get any touches or anything. Is this a bad sign? Do I get an email saying my petition was touched? What is going on?

Thanks

Hi,

First touch I have was 4 months after filing. Some people got approved with never been touched, so I would not worry about it. All the best in your journey !!

nope its not bad some people get noa2 with out ever being touched and u can see if u been touched by making an portfolio at http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

u check last time updated if it changed then u were touched

Being "touched" might be something as simple as somebody moving your file from one pile of papers to another to another. Or it might mean you're a day away from approval. Truth is, it means very little other than that somebody has had their hands on your file (but maybe just to move it and not to work on it). We were touched once about 5 days after NOA1 but didn't receive NOA2 for another 4 months after that...

Click on this link: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp to access the CRIS online case status site. If you haven't done so already, create a customer portfolio, and then when you log in you can see what the latest date it was updated. If that date changes then you know you've been touched.

Even though it didn't necessarily mean anything much, I checked on CRIS pretty regularly as I liked the idea of our case being looked at, or even moved! But don't stress yourself too much. As it's already been said, plenty of people have received NOA2 with no touches whatsoever.

Funny, now that I look at that I have been touched.

For all practical purposes, touches mean nothing. Can you know anything about your case by a touch? Not really. All a touch means is that someone waved a barcode scanner over your file. It doesn't say why. Of course if you're approved the next day, you can look back in hindsight and say that's what the touch was for. But as a predictor of things to come, touches are meaningless. In super rare cases you can glean what a touch was for by talking to customer service. But this is the exception that proves the rule, and it usually only happens for people who are well outside the normal waiting times.

As my friend Mox said, truly all "touching" proves is your petition is not in a garbage can. It's a non-issue.

Just wanted to say 'Hang in there!!'. I know all this wait is wearing you down and especially on your bad days you feel like this process never ends (and that continues even after the petition is approved).

All the best of luck and keeping my fingers crossed that you get your approval soon!!!!

In every difficulty lies an island of opportunity.
