ok so...why so much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$?

I beleive the longer ripening time is the culprit for the rainbow colors.

Apparently, your area supermarkets are not getting good deals on peppers. Or worse, price gouging.

In KC, the green ones are about 50 cents each right now.

I just read that the yellow and orange ones are from Holland too so maybe that's why.

And holy hot tamale they're 10g of carbs for 1 cup!!! :blink::blink::blink:

Red peppers are just green peppers that have been allowed to fully ripen. There is a risk in letting them stay on the plant that long and it takes more 'field time' so they are losing money by not getting ready to plant something else. So the plants sit in the ground longer waiting for them to ripen.

Red and yellow peppers are sweeter to me than green peppers, probably because they have been allowed to ripen and develop their natural sweet flavours. With that being said, I love all the different colours of bell peppers :)

Look for a bargain in the mark down section.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

back in the town where I am from in Canada there was this farm where you could go and pick up a big bag of bell peppers and all you had to do was leave a donation.. once in awhile I would go by and get some and then I would chop them all up and freeze them and then whenever I needed some for a recipe I would get some out of the freezer...
