CIS sent me an email notification today. I can't believe what I was looking at "...we have approved this I130..." Is this standard wording for NOA1 or NOA2? I sent both I129 + I130 in October 2008. Got NOA1 for I129 right away. Then payment check was cleared in January. I never received NOA1 for I-130.

On March 10, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

That means they approved your petition. Now the second part of the process begins. Start gathering your documents and be prepared to deal with either MTL or Vancouver for your interview.

Good luck, L.

Since this is an I-130 approval, they'll be dealing with NVC for a while before worrying about any Consulate.

new at this and a bit confused.... If you get the I-130 approved before the I-129f, do you go straight to booking your interview? I thought you had to wait till both were approved?

Well, this is all a bit confused right now but the OP only mentions approval of an I-130 petition, not an I-129F. So, the I-130 itself won't result in a K3 visa. The I-130 process includes multiple steps at NVC before the Consulate sees it.

USCIS appears to be making policy changes in this regard without notice but once they actually forward a case ton NVC, the rest of the process is unchanged.
