Love at first sight?

I agree that if you've never known a person then falling in love at first sight is probably unlikley. If you've known the other person online and then meet the person, you probably already fell in love with him or her by the time you met and I meant falling in love at first sight in the traditional sense, when you have no relationship to the person until that point when you first meet him or her. That is tricky. My husband and I knew each other as then and again chat buddies for 2.5 years before we met in person. However, there was never any relationship, never any feelings beyond "He/She is cute. Shame they live an ocean away. Oh well.". Sometimes months would go by without us talking to each other. I never really intended to meet my husband in person. It just happened due to some extremely odd circumstances. I wonder how to classify that because I did technically know him beforehand, but not enough to care, if that makes any sense.

Well, I don't think that would count. Even if you had no desire to be with the person and really met him for the first time and "fell in love," it still sounds like lust to me.

I never claimed to fall in love with him at first sight (see previous posts), but someone else could have a similar situation and claim love at first sight, but is it really first sight?

don't think so. I think the definition of love at first sight has evolved today to include love at first type, love at first talk (phone), etc. Maybe the "sight" part needs to change, but love at first sight, type, talk" doesn't have the same catchiness...

I agree with you. I doubt love at first anything is likely. I think lust is natural and part of the normal progression of relationships.

I sure did feel something when I first saw my husband - I know it because I'd never felt that before. However, I don't believe it was love since I didn't even know him.

I remember when I fell in love with him...that came later on once we were dating and spending a lot of time together. He showed me what an amazing person he is and I couldn't help myself.

How about this? The first time you truly see someone is when you love them?

I may not believe in lover at "first" sight but when I dated my ex for the first time, I knew that we would marry. Unless I screwed it up. took 18 years to screw it up!

When I met lola, I really did fall in love with her. writing to each other for 6 months probably help get my eyes in focus.....
