Obama: 'If I am not ready, why do you think I would be such a great vice president?'

Gosh, she's all over the place! What is she thinking?! I don't see why people can't see her sick and twisted ways of trying to get votes. If this is how shady she oprates before she is in Office then who knows what she could become when in office.

I think that was very wise and right on what Obama said about stating how he is in first place, has more electoral AND popular votes and Hillary still treats him like a second rate candidate. What is that all about?

Yep. It's the arrogance that turns a lot of people off. Even if she's just being political, it doesn't do well for her. She could use a little humility and self effacement.

Oh and Obama has humility? Gimme a break - did you read that NYT article I posted? He had his sights set on the WH before he became a Senator!

Come on Dev, you know Hillary had her sights set on the WH long before she became a senator.

When she was IN the WH, you mean? ;)

I never said she didn't Gary, but Obama claims he is no insider, etc, yet he consulted HER, of all people - on politics. How ironic.

To her nodding head on more than one occasion he said they were friends before the elections and would remain friends afterwards. How petty can one get when it comes to politicians that differ in style more than anything else?

I think that's right. HC and BO are pretty much on the same side of the issues. That being a case, it doesn't seem there's much they can do to tout the merits of their respective cases without resorting to personal attacks and smears. I'd sooner see a substantive discussion of policy ideas rather than this sensationalist conclusion-jumping that seems to be par for the course.

"With X's plan, Y million people will be cut out of healthcare!! OMG OMG OMG!!!"

Silly. And demeaning.

Precisely. But again, she has experience... and given her experienced credentials she should have been quite able to get all of us a National Health Care plan a long time ago. THAT would have been an AWESOME achievement but politics got in the way.

Hopefully, given her experience, and her previous drive to help out all Americans, she'd still get my vote if a miracle happened and she got the nomination. Issues are similar, though not all. In that case I'd vote with my conscience in favor of ending the status quo and business as usual, although she represents, with her experience, more of the same. And that's a synonym for, you guessed it, business as usual.

I'd love for someone to answer me what exactly Obama (the most liberal Senator out there) thinks he can accomplish with his 'new fangled way of thinking'? I can assure you that the 99% of Congress is as 'old school' politics as it gets...

Here are some clues Dev...

Barack worked closely with the Chicago machine for most of his political life both as the much touted community organizer and as state legislator.

One wonders why he did not push for change in the Chicago machine or the Illinois body politic.

Instead, he got himself caught in a sweetheart deal with Rezko whom everyone in Chicago knew was going to be indicted.

1. Chicago machine was a good place for him to start working on "Change" and a good opportunity for him to prove his capability to effect that change. Instead he became very much a part of it by allowing Rezko to exploit people in his community and, worse, getting caught in a questionable deal with the scroundrel.

Now he's running on the promise to change "Washington" with no credible track record.

Want to change Washington?

Then, first look at Chicago!

This is so ugly. :(

When I read these threads I just feel really awful about people in general.

I mean obviously some posters are more rancorous, mean-spirited and generally unpleasant in most ways than others, but for the most part, this is just icky to read.

So don't? ;)

Sometimes I suspect Alex is into S&M.

I live in Chicago and can " assure " ^_^ you that Obama was not as big a part of that Chicago machine as you may think he was.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Saying "Obama is the most liberal senator" - whoever is saying it - doesn't automatically make it true.

http://nj.nationaljournal.com/voteratings/

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was the most liberal senator in 2007, according to National Journal's 27th annual vote ratings. The insurgent presidential candidate shifted further to the left last year in the run-up to the primaries, after ranking as the 16th- and 10th-most-liberal during his first two years in the Senate.

Indeed, while Obama ranks as the magazine's most liberal senator of 2007, his ranking was 16th in 2005 and 10th in 2006.

I think having the #1 most liberal Senator running for President is a hinderance, frankly, to the Dem party.

It didn't work with Kerry, and it won't work with Obama either. That's why I'm hoping he gets the nomination.

Thats the opinion of the National Journal. But since liberalism and conservatism is subjective, it doesn't mean much.

That's not a source. It's based on opinion and a false use of the word liberal. Fuzzy math doesn't cut it.

Even so, it's pretty weak to resort to the "he's more liberal" ticket. It reminds me of the idiocy that was McCain and Romney arguing about who is the most conservative while Ron Paul sat at the same table.

Leaving Rhezko aside, the part about what he did during his time in Chicage that indicates that political change is a fundamental belief is fair game. Did he propose measures that were thwarted? Did he feel that change is only necessary in Washington? Did he impliment some politically significant measures?

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

You're right gary. Those silly enough to want to repeat negative history should be condemned to repeat it... just not the rest of us against getting dragged down at the behest of a few fear mongers.

Exactly, the media has bastardized "liberal" and "conservative" to the point that they have no real meaning anymore.
