This is so ugly. :(

When I read these threads I just feel really awful about people in general.

I mean obviously some posters are more rancorous, mean-spirited and generally unpleasant in most ways than others, but for the most part, this is just icky to read.

That is her private business, not yours.

Well, thank god you are not her advisor. You wanted her to step down last week. Gimme a break Steven.

I'm not buying that. If a CEO at a major corporation coerced an employee into sexual relations, it would be unethical. So do we hold our president to lower standards than CEOs?

All you need is a modest house in a modest neighborhood

In a modest town where honest people dwell

So don't? ;)

I like taking part in VJ discussions to take a break from what I'm doing. The election is something I'm really interested in. I just wish people could be more civil and maybe grow up a little bit. Courtesy and politeness are very underrated. Sometimes we all blow our tops, but a few people need to think about why they are so unpleasant in every single post.

Alex - no one is making you read these threads. If it's ugly - just go. Coming in & saying :protest: isn't going to change anything.

Gosh, she's all over the place! What is she thinking?! I don't see why people can't see her sick and twisted ways of trying to get votes. If this is how shady she oprates before she is in Office then who knows what she could become when in office.

I think that was very wise and right on what Obama said about stating how he is in first place, has more electoral AND popular votes and Hillary still treats him like a second rate candidate. What is that all about?

Yep. It's the arrogance that turns a lot of people off. Even if she's just being political, it doesn't do well for her. She could use a little humility and self effacement.

Oh and Obama has humility? Gimme a break - did you read that NYT article I posted? He had his sights set on the WH before he became a Senator!

Come on Dev, you know Hillary had her sights set on the WH long before she became a senator.

When she was IN the WH, you mean? ;)

I never said she didn't Gary, but Obama claims he is no insider, etc, yet he consulted HER, of all people - on politics. How ironic.

I didn't become cynical, I have always been cynical about politicians because political people have to live a very different life style to most people.

To be a successful politician you have to devote most of your life to the service of politics. That's not a 9-5 job and it takes a certain egocentricity to be able to do that, particulary at the higher levels. What is important, is not that a leader is egocentric, but that he/she wishes to be a leader to achieve goals that are important to not just themselves, but the people who elect them.

Being cynical is not necessarily a bad thing, it can be, but only if you take it to such a degree that you see no good in anyone. I don't see any of the current crop of candidates as all bad, not even Huckabee (and yes I know he has finally dropped out!)

Its like Gore/Bush and Kerry/Bush... people, given the choice over how much damage a President could do to the planet, chose whom they chose and now we can see the effects of the decision. Its a clear and cut case this time around in my opinion, independent of which candidate you like more (or dislike more in others' convoluted views of reality), that if you wish for something to be done about things that are currently not happening how you like them, then try to at least bring in someone that at the minimum taunts a change rather than flaunting the status quo or worse, experience as a catchphrase.

I agree, it would have been much worse had we elected Gore and/or Kerry.

Care to tell that to the families of the fallen in Iraq?

Hindsight is always 20/20. There are many scenarios that would lead to much worse results than what has happened in Iraq.

In this instance foresight was 20/20 ;)

Please contribute. Apathy is an unfortunate side effect of negative politics and hopefully it will go away someday... (yeah, right)... I think that since they want to be negative by attrition we can be positive in the same way.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

To her nodding head on more than one occasion he said they were friends before the elections and would remain friends afterwards. How petty can one get when it comes to politicians that differ in style more than anything else?

Its infrahumanization and some people like to take it a little to the extreme.

It is getting old. I hope we can take the discussions back to a more productive place, and dicuss the election for what it is rather than through the eyes of an Obama, Clinton or McCain supporter.

How do you plan on accomplishing that? There isn't a way - altho maybe after Denver it will be easier.
