Cool beans!!! But doesn't she have to receive/fill in/send off the packet 3 forms before her embassy can schedule the interview? Or did you already do that electronically?

Total result either way I guess!

No..in Ukraine, you can download packet 3 from the Embassy website and fill it all in. Nothing is sent in ahead of time, not even the signature checklist. All is carried in at the time of the interview. We downloaded everything a long time ago, but the new DS-156 and DS-156k forms were completed online and printed out to be signed. I took them with me in May and gave them to Sveta. :-)

I'm kind of jealous of embassies that work this way! I believe the Manila embassy does, too. What's the standard wait for an interview in Ukraine?

they had been saying "two months out", but someone else from here has messages me and they had the chance to get one about 5 pr 6 weeks out--and that was a week or so ago. I am hoping the summer 'rush' is over and that it can be done in about 4 or 5 weeks. They may STILL get here before the end of September! :-)

I hope they do! I didn't think any of us would still be waiting now...however, we're all going to get through it in the end, and that's what matters most. :) I thought that each stage would get a little bit easier but it doesn't...now I'm really, really worried that something will happen between now and when Dennis crosses the border. I've heard about some of the smaller POEs have given people trouble...I really hope we don't have a problem!

We will probably come in through JFK, and I have heard they can get the work permit at that time. However, if Chicago flights are much less expensive, I will not hesitate to fly through there and worry about the permits later! I do not have much of a choice as to large or small POE since I will bring them back internationally. I hope you have no trouble! About 5 years ago I drove up to Winnipeg to visit a friend. I got the 3rd degree going into Canada, but only had a couple of questions when coming back. I figured it would be tougher to enter the US rather than leave it, but I was surprised!

I had to go in and talk to an officer the first time I went into Canada...but I thought it was because I'd never been there before. Plus, it was suspicious because I had flow into Fargo (about 2 hours from the border) because I didn't have time to get my passport before the trip, so I could only drive across the border...so Dennis and I were in the same car. :) That's what we're figuring, too...if they give us one then great! If not, we're prepared for that. I've heard it's hard to get employment on the temporary ones anyway, because no one wants or take the risk of "Will they actually receive their EAD?"

Me, either...Dennis is getting ready to be a house husband for a little bit. ;) Although, I don't think he's looking forward to it too much. It will be a good time for him to get to know the city and the sites...plus I'll put him to work getting stuff ready for our big ceremony in May. ;)

Hi everyone,

Still waiting for my NOA2. NOA1 receipt date was Feb. 19th. My State Senator made an inquiry and was told my file is in security check. Has anyone had this problem, and approximately how long did it take for you to hear anything? Please help! I am beyond frustrated.

Thanks

Love is a gift and not to be earned, therefore one should never hold any regrets for giving love regardless of the outcome...

I understand :( Check out Sunnybear's profile, she went through the security check thing, too. She filed in January and was approved earlier this month (I think)...so hopefully it won't hold you up too much! I've also heard a rumor that "security check" is just the excuse they use if it's taking a long time.

Hello everybody. I am back from California and Disneyland where I enjoyed 5 whole days not thinking about bl**dy immigration :) I can feel the stress building right back up again though - take me back to the rollercoasters please.

My latest news is that I called NVC this morning and they said they sent my petition to London "today". I suppose I should be pleased/ grateful to hear that, but that means it took over a month from approval to leave the US. And means that packet 3 will likely not arrive until I get home 26 Aug. The reason why this is a big deal is that it apparently takes 8 weeks to get an interview in London, and I have to know about my visa by 29 Oct or I have to change our wedding date, which gives me about 3 days of flexibility... SIGH [rant over]

I asked NVC if I could track my petition through DHL and she said they just sent it US mail, so no I can't. I was sure I read that others tracked theirs?

Congratulations to all those reporting progress while I was out. And again, so sorry for those still stuck in the system. I wish you all swift resolutions.

I just met with our wedding planner and the whole business is feeling really surreal. I hope that I can undo this appauling stress before I get to the alter, I would like to be able to start enjoying this

Congrats on your file finally getting to and through the NVC!!!! The woman you talked with at the NVC was wrong. They send all such files out by DHL. So, you should be able to do the track DHL packages thing and have a pretty good idea when your file gets to London. I am not familiar with the London Embassy way of doing business, but I would guess there are some things you could do to possibly get your interview scheduled when you want it. While they likely won't schedule the interview early just so that you can marry when you want to, there are some other arguments that might work for you. Starting/finishing school, employment issues (with either your or your SO's employer are a couple of things that might get them to schedule the interview when you want. You just need to make a good case. Also, hang out in the London forum and see if anyone there can help you with ideas. Good luck!

:dance::dance: Was able to get through to the NVC today, they received my file yesterday! I was so use to them telling me they had no record for my case number I was silent when she started asking me for dates of birth and names on the petition. So now I have my NVC case number!:dance::dance:

Now my next question is where do I find the information to track DHL packages?

Well, Sveta called the Embassy in Kiev this morning and was told that our documents had not yet arrived. DHL tracking shows it arrived on the 18th in the afternoon, so I figure they simply do not have it entered into the system yet. She was told to wait until next week to call back, but I think we will just wait until Friday. :innocent:

I reckon you'll win, because I'm waiting until my police certificate/long form birth certificate come before I post my packet 3. Speaking of which, any ideas on my question over at the Consular Discussion forum?

I answered in that other forum area. I cannot believe it is going to take 60 days to get the long form birth certificate for you! Maybe that is their standard answer and it actually will arrive ina week or two.
