Ok, so the worst news ever, or almost ever. Our co-sponsor bailed on us and we should be getting our NOA2 anytime now. We have been splitting hairs trying to think of what to do and I was thinking of something but I need some feedback and hope at least someone will have an answer.

I heard you can count childsupport IF you have a court ordered amount. My ex does NOT want to go back to court, and I kinda dont either, currently I have full and sole custody of the kids, he has already said if he has to go back to court hes going to push for joint custody. When we got a divorce he was unemployeed so they set the childsupport at the lowest they could, $50 per month for two kids. Well, while I am not in love with him and I thank God that we are no longer together he isnt the worst in the world, and so he pays extra every month beyond the $50 they take out of his pay. In addition he provides the kids medical and dental insurance. He has agreed to sign a contract and have it notarised for how much he actually pays. With that money in childsupport counted, I meet the income requirement. The only thing I want to know, is will they accept a notarised paper signed by both me and my ex about how much he pays as long as it state that he will continue to provide that support until the kids reach the age of 21?

I would love to be able to do this myself instead of having to try to drum up another co-sponsor at the last minute. What do you guys think? Would it be enough? He said he would be willing to provide proof of the money he has given.

I'll offer you my opinion. I don't believe that this will work for you, and I wouldn't be very confident that it would be acceptable. Hopefully, you can find another co-sponsor. It seems that often, the interviewing CO doesn't even look at the financial support documentation, but I don't think I'd be willing to take that chance. Just my opinion.....good luck!

I don't know if you guys know this about the NVC phone number, but when you get through you have the choice to either talk to a real person (press 1 then 5) this is available limited hours 7am - 12am i think, or you can use the automated system where you enter your CIS number and it tells you about your case.

The automated system is available 24 hours a day. This way you can check at your leisure. I have checked twice now, and so far no record of my case.

The NVC doesn't enter K-1 petition information so that it's available in the automated system. You have to speak to a live operator (between 7:30 AM and 11:30 PM). You can either do the press 1, then press 5 option or wait until the system asks if you're looking for a fiance(e) petition and then press 2.

WE GOT IT !!!!!!!

Oh god... can't even type as all the pressure just felt and i'm crying

Congratulations to you both, MissYoko!!!!

Oh wow, really? Thank you for letting me know. I could have run myself ragged on that automated phone line.

Sorry for misinforming people earlier (!?)

How come the officials don't tell us bl**dy anything that's useful!

Thanks again.

Here's another thought. You could just email and ask the Consulate (where the interview will be). You could do this in a relatively anonymous manner. Just pose your question in a theoretical and general sense. I've always had good luck in getting email answers from the Moscow Consulate. The Consulate might just reply and quote the guidelines, but, then again, they might give you a specific and definitive answer. I certainly think it's worth a shot. Again, good luck!

hi everyone,

i just have question.... can i start gathering my docs..like tax receipts from IRS ..etc even without NOA2 yet?? I got a RFE email on july 22 and i mailed the docs as soon as i got the snail mail( actually same day i got it). i logged on the USCIS website if they touched me today..i didnt see any changes yet! But the postal servise sent me an email confirming that they delivered my mail! I'm trying to think positive and hope my NOA2 is coming soon. It wouldn't hurt if i start getting the docs isn't it????

ps... ..congratulations to all who got their NOA 2 recently!!! and for us who are still waiting..let's just hang on and keep praying!!! our time is coming soon!!! we are in a better position than sunnybear who's #1 in igors list!! if she could wait this long..we can too!! i hope her NOA2 will come soon!!

I gathered all of my information and sent it to Ukraine before our NOA2 was granted--about 3 weeks before. Not much information will have changed during the time difference, and I just sent the most recent paycheck information. My tax forms will not be different, and I am still employed at the same location for the same number of years. I think it is fine to be completely prepared ahead of time.

Absolutely! Start getting stuff ready so that you're all prepared for the next step. :)

edit: Do bear in mind, though...if you SEND it now you'll have to send another package later on with your more recent paycheck stubs. I don't know what shipping for you will be like...but just to Canada it's ridiculously expensive to send a flat two-day mailer (the cheapest that could be tracked with Fedex). You could definitely start requesting stuff, but I'd hold on to it until closer to the interview. :)

I would ask around on the regional board and find out if other people have tried this and how it worked for them. Each embassy/consulate is a little bit different in what they'll accept and what they won't accept. Meanwhile, keep looking for another co-sponsor, I think that would probably be safer (and less stressful for you while you wait). Hopefully you can find someone else and it won't be a big deal.

I just called the NVC this morning (which took mutiple times to get through) and the lady on the phone told me I have to wait up to 90 days for them to get it from CSC. I have to go back to work tomorrow so that means 3 weeks without seeing whats coming in the mail because I won't be home. :ranting::ranting:

That sucks :( Just keep trying the NVC (I know..it takes forever to get through to them!!). Even when they DO send you a letter, it doesn't say anything other than "we received it" and "here's your case number", which they can give you over the phone. The next step that requires action will be when your fiancee receives packet 3. I know that doesn't make it any easier to wait...but at least nothing will be held up at your house waiting for you to respond.

Well, the NVC finally says that they've received my petition! I just called. I had a clue that maybe they finally had it, as the operator was asking for the names and DOBs for both of us after I gave her the CIS receipt number (unlike before when they would just say sorry, have no record of that). She told me that they just received it today and gave me the new DOS case number. I don't know if contacting my Senator's and Congresswoman's offices last week had anything to do with the NVC finally getting it. Maybe I'll find that out later. Right now, I'm just very relieved to know that my file is finally out of USCIS hands and in DOS hands!

That is odd because I think the NOA2 actually says it should take no more than 4 weeks. I do not have mine to look at right now, but I am pretty sure I read that yesterday. hmmmmm

Congrats Don. It sure is a relief. I knew that they had my petition when the operator asked me our date of births as well.

Now on to the next step!
