Ok folks...I have a question for you. The January filers list includes people who mailed in January, but received their NOA1 in February. When I made my list I only included people who mailed in February. Do you guys want me to add the mailed in January/NOA1 in February people to our list?

You're a cusp...like if you're born right between two astrological signs ;) That means you can be both! I suppose that answers my own question...when I get to work I'll add the Jan mailers/Feb NOA1ers to the list.

If it's not too much trouble, I'd add the January mail'ers to the list just to be sure no one is left out.

The list in the "January CSC filers" thread goes by NOA1 date. So, the January mail'ers are not on that list.

i want to ask if i sent my KI1 in Jan but recived NOA1 in FEn so i'm JAN or FEB? :huh:

That's one of those questions that is really important to people, but also actually meaningless at the same time. The discussion of whether people consider themselves filers in one month or another hinges on whether the date the petition was mailed vs. an NOA1 date and has been discussed a great deal in other threads (see the Waiting for Approval from CSC thread). Basically, Igor's list and other groupings of filers by month are done by the date that the petitions were mailed, not by the NOA1 date. This is done for several reasons:

1) People are wildly inaccurate in putting in their NOA1 dates - some people put in the date they receive the NOA1 in the mail, some put the date the CSC receipted the application, some people put the date on the NOA1 itself;

2) the NOA1 Date is often not reflective of what "box" you are in when it comes to order of processing - if you take a look at the amount of time between when the petition is mailed and what the NOA1 date is you see date ranges from 2 days to 3 weeks, if not more, yet when the people are approved and receive their NOA2 they tend to cluster more closely with the "mailed" date rather than the NOA1 date;

3) the USCIS boxes (and supposedly processes) applications in the order that they are received not by the date of the NOA1. Pretty much anywhere in the US to CSC takes no more than 3-4 days between mailing and receipt in California;

4) If there is one date that people know and remember it is the date that they actually mailed the petition - it is of great significance to everyone, and in many people's minds that is the date that the clock starts ticking.

Theoretically, the best date would be the date the CSC physically received the application, but for many that information is not available. Those are some of the reasons that generally the mailing date is used in listing rather than by NOA1 dates. But it doesn't really matter. In the January CSC thread we stated that it was based on mailed date so as to correspond with Igor's list (easier to track progress). Still, there were a number of people who filed in late December that wanted to be included in the list of January filers - and were. So, Benny and Cassi have been listed with the January applicants because they filed in January, but if you want to include them in February, I'm sure they will not mind, after all, they've passed on to a better place - the NVC!

And So It Begins......

:lol: so you noticed. :lol:

Really, I just maintain the list in a word document and update it from there. But you're right, any tabs and formats are lost when copying over to this site - if you could paste bitmaps all would be well, but you can't do that either. That is why on the January CSC listing you see underscores, dashes, or dots seperating the names from the dates. The other thing to remember is that your list will continually change as new people join. Some people will also disappear if they remove themselves from the site (rare but it actually does happen). So once a week you should go through the list name by name and compare it to Igor's listing to see if new people have joined. Once it's copied I just bold a few lines and resize the percentages, that's all.

As for the Dember filers that were included in the January list, I only included those that told me that they wanted to be included with the January filers - it was kinda up to them. There was a larger number of December filers with NOA1 dates in January that were not included. There is no right or wrong answer on this one.

I wonder about putting it on a photosharing website like photobucket and then just including the image from there...I'll try that next time I update the list.

We only had 10 that mailed in January, NOA1 in Feb...so I just included them all. :)
