Do you think you're "better" than people who have jobs that are less glamorous than yours? For example, if you have an office type job do you look down on people in the service industry, etc.? Does your salary help determine your value as a person?

Yeah, sure. I am better in a lot of things aside from money.

In career terms - doing something you love and care about is better than being a wage ####### for something you really couldn't give a rats a$$ about.

Unless you have a family to support and you're one of those dream-chasing bastards that can't figure out how to make a living and do what you love at the same time.

I don't think I'm better than those people. I think they're actually better than a lot of people because they will take whatever job it takes to support themselves and their family even if it is a ####### one.

I agree

I have to say that I respect those that take even the crappiest of jobs to support themselves and their families.

True. I was sort of thinking of my own age group - and indeed some friends of mine who waste their time doing jobs I know that they absolutely hate, but can't think of anything 'better' to do.

I have friends like that too. Mostly they do the jobs they hate because they pay the best. I have a miserable friend who makes tons of money, and has since he graduated from college, and absolutely hates his life. He talks about a career change all the time, but 1. I don't think he can give up the money and 2. he doesn't have any ideas about what to do.

Somebody said 'just a teacher' to you?

I wish I had been standing there to hear that. I would have given them a new perspective....... B)

:luv:

I know how hard hubster works at being "just a teacher" and I'd like to kick some butt sometimes too when people say things like that.

As for am I better that someone with a crappy job...hell, isn't "crappy" all relative anyway. I know some people who feel my job is crappy because I sit in an office and they couldn't sit at a desk all day. Yet I know I make more money than some of them. So, no I hope they don't feel better than me, just as I don't feel better than anyone who has a job that I'd consider crappy, and it's not just what people consider menial or service industry (or lower paying) that can be crappy.

The only thing I love to do is nothing. But nothing don't pay.

I don't think you'd want a job that pays you to do "nothing".

And by nothing, I mean nothing. You're not allowed to do anything. Go to the office, sit there all day long and do NOTHING. Stare at the wall.

Would you really want a job like that?

Does it pay enough?
