'Declaration of how you met in person in the last two years. This should be a single typed page regarding question 18 of the I-129F. Make sure to sign and date it.'

How detailed does this have to be? There is no exmple to look at & I sure don't want to screw it up!

Thanks.

There is no example as each case is different. I would suggest gathering all the evidence you have of having met and then drafting up the statement. The evidence then supports this declaration and you have the opportunity to expand in some detail on the accompanying evidence.

I just typed out exactly what happened, how we met, when we met. We each included a signed letter of intent to marry. I then sent along 5 pictures out of so many and a copy of my boarding pass and stamped pages in my passport. All the other evidence went with my fiance to his interview. At this point, they just need you to prove you have met within the two years. You won't mess it up, just tell what happened. Good Luck!

The first part of the RFE I got they want an elaboration on how we meet.

The second part is LAST MEETING they said what I set did not prove we meet in last two years.

The Third is they want a copy of her birth certificate

My first letter of how we meet was ¾ of a page so I am redoing it and it will be a full page this time. I am explaining the exact website, the name of Motel - even though they had itemized recite from them its location ditty, how we spent our first 2 weeks together and now how our second trip was the engagement party new photos ETC. Where we went what we did how much time we spent togheare, etc she works full time.

in the first letter I explained date time and place of meeting also supplied photo of event

Explained how we first meet on line

Listed items sent in to prove we meet and had a relationship

Listed:

Airline stubs and baggage tickets

Airline itinerary

Motel receipt in English itemized with both our names on it

Photos with dates on the back (5)

Engagement ring receipt

Passport & Visa

They said"Elaborate on statements"

Secound Question They said "though you have submitted undated photos of you with beneficiary, copies of your stamped passport, and airline ticket stubs, they alone do not establish that you have met the beneficiary in person in the last two years immediately preceding the filing of the petition. The airline stubs do not show the year, so it is not possible to determine if the meeting was within the two-year period"

photos were dated cover letter dicscribed and included time place and date

They recommended I supply motel receipt, airline itinerary, credit card statements, and dated photos-which apparently means digital date on print-

And as a preemptive strike I am trying to line up my Congressman to help it they send and more requests like this last on

Wow. Can I ask where she is from? You are a Yank, yes?

I lived in the UK for 2 years while we dated, so hopefully it won't be as hard to prove...

My answer was about a third of a page, basically detailing that we met on a talkboard, and we met up when he visited New York. I also listed the different occasions on which we had visited/traveled together (making sure the dates matched my itineraries and passport stamps) and noted that on our last trip he'd met my parents. I had no problems getting approved.

I also had plenty of emails and pics, and the receipt to the ring, but at this stage the itineraries, passport stamps, and boarding passes are the crucial bits.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure i don't have any boarding passes! Yikes. I have plenty of passport stamps tho. And I have a UK student visa stamp in my passport, since I lived there for 2 years. And plenty of pics with things in the background (Paris, Croatia, UK).

I can also submit credit card stuff for hotels & tickets. Think it will be OK?

devilette,

How could there be a good example? No two people have met in the same way, except in the most superficial sense. Everyone's story is personal and different.

Don't you wish now that you'd paid more attention to your high school English teacher on writing composition?

I took the literal route.....

I met my fiancee whilst on a business trip in <country, city> on <mm,dd,yy> in a shopping mall. We dated for approximately <months/days> until my departure on <mm,dd,yy>.

I used the space provided on the form.

Yes I am a Yank, though I have lived and still travel world wide. Some people are lucky a few lines work my letter was very clear to the point with an easy to read vertical list of the proof that we were together.

First Paragraph was “How we meet in person” i.e. HCMC VN airport 1700 Nov 25 2005 with reference to attached photo of event and statement to the effect we spent two weeks together etc etc etc.

Next Para listed items that proved the trip and meeting in person i.e. Motel receipt, itemized, with dates of stay, both of our names; and several more items

Third Paragraph explain how we meet; online July?? - I gave dates- how we emailed, then chatted, and phoned daily; added that by my first trip to VN we had conversed online >200 hours

First part of My RFE was they want an elaboration on how we meet “elaborate on your statements"

So send what you want because for some reviewers it will be perfect, some it will be to much, and some will want a whole lot more.

To be honest if I did it again I would go with minimal info but get the package in ASAP because maybe they will accept it and save you a lot of work.

I will point out that I think Marc Ellis, Esq. wrote an article that was against that type of rational. He said once it is accepted by stateside the respective consulate can not reject the evidence unless there is clear Fraud or at least they are not suppose to reject it; so that would lean toward more information the less the first time around I would think

By the way is not the correct question " Are you from the Colonies" I had a British friend from the Royal Navy that phrased it that way

I only had the boarding passes from our last trip together, as I didn't think to start saving them until we started considering getting the visa. But I had electronic itineraries for most of our trips, as I book my flights online. So I sent those, with a note on each pointing out which page in my passport had the relevant stamps for the trip. Do you have anything like that?

The credit card stuff will definitely help.

Yeah, I hope so. I think I could email the site & maybe ask for it, if not. I have a whole page British student visa in my PP, that should be pretty clear I think! Plus my last addys were in the UK for 2 years.

Thanks.
