After so many threads asking for directions, etc.. I have come up with a poll to get a census of how many people actually read the simple directions. You don't have to comment. Just vote! This is in regards to filing your USCIS application.

Please be honest about it. I know you don't want to admit it publicly that you goofed.

I always read directions.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

I read instructions months before I'm supposed to file the form. I also try filling it out to see if there are questions I might have difficulty giving the answer to. Sometimes, USCIS forms throw up this ambiguous question that you are never quite sure how to answer. Once I've done the "trial" form I then read up on other people's posts here.

When I'm finally ready to fill out the final form and put the supporting documents together, I have the instructions handy and I check off each item that is important (especially the evidence section).

Nah, I don't have OCD. :D:lol:

I dont always read directions.. like putting things together, for instance lol.. I think I got that "male" trait from my dad..no offense guys, I usually dont ask for directions either lol

But THESE instructions? I have read them about oh..50 times, Ive even printed them out and highlighted areas and made notes on them lol lol

Im sure everyone reads the instructions but doesnt quite understand the verbage, maybe?

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

The male that you probably referring to are probably the ones on steroids. I'm a male and read directions all the time. Well, that's because engineers are practically responsible for everything they do anyway. I'd say not all male corresponds to the male in question that you have. Just wanted you to know.

I spent two months going over everything before filing my I-129F petition. Yes I read them and read (not asked) many forums.

Google is an awesome tool!!

I believe that most of the ones asking questions are the beneficiaries, where English is not their native tongue.

I won't be filing for two more months and I've already read the instructions for every form, read and printed out the I-130 guide, James' Shortcut , and the NVC flowchart; gathered most of my supporting documents and evidence; downloaded and filled out as much as possible ALL the forms; printed the ones that I can complete like the I-130 and my I-325A; made three copies of all the documents I do have and filed them in three different folders. I've even typed up affadavits for my mother and my sister to sign when I see them. And still I have some questions. I agree with another poster that some questions are ambiguous or at least cause confusion. I'm beginning to feel like I have a handle on this and will hopefully get through without receiving an RFE. (knock wood) I'm just glad I found this site before I filed. I'm actually glad for all those questions people ask. With each one, I begin to feel more like the expert and not so much like the rube.

P.S. I even checked into the Naturalization Guide on USCIS today. We won't be filing for another four years or more, but . . . Do I sound obsessive?

I believe that most of the ones asking questions are the beneficiaries, where English is not their native tongue.

I don't think that's the case, I don't think language is the issue here, most of the VJ members are US Citizens. IMO, is just that sometimes they are just too lazy to read. It's a lot easier to type and post a question than to take the time to do some research, read the guides, the instructions on the forms, or use google.

I know we all have had questions and doubts, but sometimes they're asking really basic stuff you can tell they have not even read the guides.

I loved it that one time someone started a thread titled "google is your friend" on the main forum.
