Hi All

Few questions.

We got our NOA2 on 26th feb.So ,it means it would be valid until june. However , i am going to canada for some work and may not be able to attend the inteview before june.

1.How do i get my NOA2 extended?Do i have to write to: IVND@state.gov or is there some other email id.?How will i know that my noa2 has been extended.?

2.I was thinking to get as much stuff done as possible before i go to canada. Can i get my medical done before i receive the packet 3 and 4 or are there any forms that doctor has to sign and those forms will be received only in packet 3 and 4.

3.On what address the embassy will send me my packet 3 and 4.

4. i read somewhere that packet 3 is just a form and can be submitted in person at the embassy. Can my parents do it while i m away or do i have to go in person.

5.Can i get the police certificates now or shd i wait for packet 3 and 4.Is there a specific format for the certificates,i mean what kind of certificate we need, what shuld it say.

6.Also,i was in Uk for 2 years on deputaton by my company.I wont be able to get the police certificates from there.what shd i do?

Hi All

You must call your embassy and ask for an extend of your NOA2. When your packet is on your embassy its decide about the date of your interview... Where are you from?? If there will be anything to do about it, you have to decide your priorities

I afraid that you cannot do it before you would got the packet 3. In this packeat come the appointment letter that you need to show when you go to the medical exam (at least in Mexico it is the way

3.On what address the embassy will send me my packet 3 and 4.

The packet is sending to the US citizen (petitioner) and to the foreign beneficiary at the address that you put when you file the I-129F

4. i read somewhere that packet 3 is just a form and can be submitted in person at the embassy. Can my parents do it while i m away or do i have to go in person.

It really depends of where are you from... In Mexico we didn't need to sent back to the embassy anything, we followed the packet 3 instructions and went to the interview. But in case that you need to return something ti the embassy you can file the requirements and send them back of anywhere you are, or well, you can file it and send it to your parents and next they send it to the embassy

5.Can i get the police certificates now or shd i wait for packet 3 and 4.Is there a specific format for the certificates,i mean what kind of certificate we need, what shuld it say.

Make sure if your embassy ask for police certificates in your country, in my case I didn't need any.

6.Also,i was in Uk for 2 years on deputaton by my company.I wont be able to get the police certificates from there.what shd i do?

Same that 5

please advise

thanks

you are welcome

1) If that is the e-mail address of the IV unit at your cconsulate then that is the best one to use

2) Typically you need your NVC assigned case number to get the medical. Check with the medical clinics to see wha thte local requirement is

3) Packet 3/4 is typically only sent to the benneficiary.... only rarely is the petitioner inclided.

4) Local procedures vary widely from consulate to consulate

5) It helps to know what consulate you are dealing with... I will assume ND is New Delhi

Police Records

Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:

All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office. These are usually more dependable than those obtained at a local level and indicate that the subject had no serious criminal convictions on record at the time of passport issuance. Applicants whose Indian passport was issued within the past six months may present just the Passport Office Police Certificate, and need not obtain additional police clearances.

Applicants over age 16, whose passports were issued more than six months previous to visa application, must also obtain a police clearance from the District Police Office serving the applicant's place of residence.

Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record.

Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence.

Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying outside India.

6) For the UK:

Police Records

Available. Immigrant visa applicants who have resided in the United Kingdom for six months or more since the age of sixteen are required to obtain a statement from the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) Criminal Records Office. Applicants will find further guidance and application forms at the following website: http://www.acpo.police.uk/certificates.asp
