Hi-

Just curious if anyone out there in VJ land has done DCF through Mexico. If so, please share your experience with me. I'm curious about how/where/length of time. I searched the US Embassy in Mexico City and not much came up. My fiance is currently in Mexico and we're in the fiance visa process, but we want to be able to move back to Mexico for a few years after a few years in the US...

!Mil gracias!

In order to do DCF through Mexico, the USC must be a legally resident in Mexico.. If so, you can file the I-130 in Mexico DF. However, the interview in Cd. Juarez will be more than 12 months out. The K1 is the must faster alternative if you want to get a visa quickly out of Mexico.

There are several Mexico DCF stories. DCF in Mexico is NOT currently the fastest way to get to the US, however. The waits for IV interview are nearly one year right now. That can of course change in the future.

If you can hold out until your new spouse qualifies for US citizenship, naturalizing removes the re-immigrating from the picture. That's what we chose to do, so we can live in Mexico for awhile too. :)

If that's not attractive, you can file when you are resident in Mexico. You file at the USCIS Field Office in DF, and then interview in Juarez.

If you keep your questions on the forum instead of in private, everyone in the community will be able to benefit from them and make sure you are getting up to date information.

I did DCF in Mexico and can tell you we filed our papers in March, 2005 and did my husband's interview was not until February of 2006! So you're probably better off with the fiance visa, especially as it does not sound as if you have residency in MX just now. But if you have any more questions, I'd be happy to help!
