Wow Laura, is that a lot of SNOW! Thanks for sharing! You mentioned if your friend hadn't a snowblower it would have taken you 2 hours to shovel?? What...are you robotic or something?? A week before I left in January 2007 we had a huge storm... a lot more snow than what you can see in your pictures, but it took my girlfriend and I ALL day to shovel!!

Going to be 63 here today...

Just wait till April and May when we get our Winter season here in Colorado.

Anyways we had the lightning/snow just the other week. I remember getting those in Windsor and in Guelph growing up. Usually see it once or twice in the winter time, but haven't experienced a Thunder Snow shower for years though until a few weeks ago...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

I've been in Kitchener/Waterloo area this winter. I have NEVER seen snow like this. I grew up on the Gulf Coast, and then moved to Pittsburgh in 05', so I'm used to a bit of snow, but nothing like this storm! We've visited Ottawa a few times, so I've seen it on the ground like this, but never had to deal with it! I feel bad for my fiance's 85 year old grandparents in Ottawa-as of yesterday evening, the snow plows still hadn't been through-and they got about 55cm's of snow.

Not being able to open your car door because the snow is too high-no fun.

I've never had to shovel before-until yesterday!

I absolutely love the snow-and will miss it terribly when we move down to the Coast & start getting those tropical breezes.

I don't know how I did it, but I think I brought the winter up here with me this year! As a US resident marrying a Canadian, who has actually made it through an entire winter in Canada-doesn't that make me an honorary Canadian or something?

Yep - surviving one Canadian winter - especially a good old fashioned winter like this one - qualifies you as an honourary Canadian! (note the spelling, of course! VBG)

My Dad sent me the following - thought you would all appreciate it:

BLESSED CANADA

On the sixth day God turned to the Archangel Gabriel and said: "Today I am going to create a land called Canada It will be a land of outstanding natural beauty. It shall have tall majestic mountains full of mountain goats, and eagles, beautiful sparkling lakes bountiful with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, high cliffs over-looking sandy beaches with an abundance of sea life, and rivers stocked with salmon."

God continued, "I shall make the land rich in resources so as to make the inhabitants prosper, I shall call these inhabitants Canadians, and they shall be known as the most friendly people on the earth."

"But Lord," asked Gabriel "don't you think you are being too generous to these Canadians?"

"Not really," replied God "just wait and see the winters I am going to give them!"

So now you know!

(btw - those photographs look a lot like what Winter was like while I was growing up!)

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I'm a robot!

I knew it. I guess now that you've become self-aware how long before skynet blows up humanity. Oh wait, it's running Windows, so no hurry.

My modus operandi with snow is to wait until it melts unless I really need to go somewhere and the weather forecast doesn't call for thawing of the permafrost  . Then I will clear the 7ft. snow drift the considerate snowplow operator has left me (it's happened a few times this winter). Just 'lil ol' me and my shovel.

Were up in RI chilling--lots of rain here yesterday, but no snow!!!! I guess back in VA it was hailing!!!

so weird!!!!

It was snowing like mad and then thundering and lightning at the same time in some places...isn't that odd??

I pray this is the last of it!!! LOL

Wow! It "thunder snowed" here this weekend... it was the most snow I've ever seen in my life (only about a foot) lol

But hey, I grew up in sunny so cal. hee hee I had only been in snow twice before I moved here (and that was in the mountains on field trips)

It rarely REALLY snows here in Kentucky. this snow came after a 65-70 degree day . I wonder why people stay sick here in the winter? lol

Thanks for the pics

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
