It is my understanding that your fiance' will have his choice of which language to conduct the interview in , so he may choose french if that is more comfortable for him. As long as you communicate in a common language, it shouldn't be a problem.

I know of one girl who's husband requested an Italian translator (b/c that was their common language) , but he also speaks english quite well. He conducted the entire interview was done in Italian, then at the end he said a few comments in English - just to mess w/ them, I think! In any case, he got the visa... but I thought it was rather comical.

About speaking English in the interview-

Hicham doesn't speak English very well... he is taking classes but I don't think he will be confident enough or ready to repond to questions in English. We communicate in French. I am fluent in French, as is he. I lived in France for 2 years when I was 13 and I am fluent. I wrote on our I-129F the years that I lived in France, and we will also include all of our emails which are in French. That is the main concern I have about our relationship for the interview that may be seen as a "red flag" but we speak a common language so I don't think it will be a problem, do you?

hello Sarah, just want you to relax, there is nothing wrong in going in there & having the interview in either Arabic or Frensh.Most ppl on the day I was there had thier interviews in Arabic (with the nice male CO) or Frensh (with the lady CO). Even tho they do ask if one speaks English, but what they really wanna know is "how you communicate". As long as you speak a comment language, then you dont have a Red flag.

Btw, if you read back on one of my posts on this thread (page2), you will see an example of a girl that was asked about how they communicate & how (to my opinion) it raised a red flag.

Congratulations on everything! It's nice to see that things in Casa may be getting better, hopefully. I think it is great that you were well prepared, and Simo your post is very helpful to myself and to my fiance and he is very happy that you provided so much information to guide us before his interview. Don't worry, Sarah. Wadi had his interview in Arabic, his english is not at conversational level yet. As far as I remember, they never even asked him anything about speaking English. The CO knew from pics and other evidence that we met and lived together in Italy, so probably made the assumption that we communicate in Italian.

Relax, if you could only speak English they wouldn't offer translators. He will do just fine. Just be sure he lets them know how you commuicate. Make sure he knows before he leaves if he has been approved or not. You do have the right to ask questions too. It's just important to be prepared and for the two of you to talk and practice questions so that he knows the answers without worry.

yes don't panic at all about language, BUT make sure not to have e-mails or letters in other languages, i saw the CO attacked some guy in consulate as i said in my post when she saw e-mails and letters in english, he didn't listen to him when he said that he doesn't speak english, but she kept speaking to him in english, while he was trying to reply in french replying to somthing he never asked, was a real mess, he ended up telling her that they communicate in spanish, she was like WHY your e-mails in english then,he replied that he is using some translation wibesite then she was like WHY WHY ,the CO started being angry i guess, so don't make this mistake, nothing wrong with language as long as you communicate in some language and all e-mails and letters are on same language as well. as KML said the CO youngman is really nice and speaks arabic and french, the black haired lady english-french smiling , the blonde i had ENGLISH NO smile .but to be perfect don't try to be first to be interviewed, try to be one of last persons in that room.one other thing try to ask questions also, like i have phone bills wonna take a look madam/sir ? wonna see pics? may i show you our chats ? .....try to GIVE them your proofs, because for some reason they try to be at first like ummmmm, like hesitating ,you know what i mean ? the blonde didn't wonna check our phone bills i was like here madam you can see yourself how much we talk on phone....so she took them and started checking page by page .SO try to give them as much proof as you can .

They looked at our pictures and nothing else. We had mounds of proof that they didn't even see. I don't know if it would have made a difference, maybe they would have sent ours back anyway, but we have decided that the best thing is to offer it, just as you said. When he gets another interview he is going to lay it all out for them to see....lol

yes it is a good idea to show them that you have everything they could possibly think of.

personaly, I had my huge laptop case right up infront of window, & when the CO asked to see our pictures, I started pulling out all kind of files (with labels showing their content) before I took out the photo album, & I could see the CO staring at the amount of files & paperwork I had brought. Maybe thats why he never asked to see any of it.
