 yup! unless if we're talking on smoking pot or dope lol... coz illegal drugs will cause automatic denial. regardless if taken 50 yrs ago or just week ago

thank you vjers roy and yazi and ron may for your quick response... how abt ideas of psych evaluation? how long does it take? coz ive got scars in my left arm due to hurting myself (not actually killing myself coz the cuts were not deep) when my bf for almost 14 yrs broke up with me. they say if i admit then i will be put to psych evaluation, do u think what happened to jen would happen to me (for answering "yes" to question if i ever attempted to commit suicide?) like being denied becoz of suicide attemp? thanks again.

There's no way you can deny the story behind visible scars on your wrist. The panel physician knows what's normal and what is not on your skin (even a big mole on my back was noted as abnormal ;) ). Like what I have suggested before, be very honest about it. The psychiatric evaluation won't take very long. To make sure that it won't cause any delays on your interview appointment, have the medical done at least a month before the interview. You'll have enough time to resolve whatever problems may arise because of your scars on your wrist. Admitting that you used drugs and being honest about your case are two different scenarios, thus, have different impacts in pursuing the visa. Using drugs is one of the reasons for outright denial while hurting yourself in the past due to relationship problems can be resolved by psychiatric evaluation. If they found out that you are mentally healthy, then they will grant you your visa.

Good luck!

mental issues are not an automatic denial of a visa. this is a different situation from the admiitted use of drugs. the doctor could order a pysch evaluation from the physical scars which appear to have been caused by an attempted suicide. you mention that you plan to take the medical next week and your timeline shows an interview date of April 4th. If a pysch evaluation is ordered, hopefully it can be finished before your interview date.

I know the interview process is stressfull enough, without this also weighing on your mind. don't worry, it can be overcome.

best of luck

I remember very well that during the physical exam with the doctor, he/she will ask if you smoke. Just admit that you do smoke and you'll be fine. It won't be a reason for denial.

As for the psych test, just admit what happened and just agree to what the doctor will prescribe you to do. Hopefully you'll be done with whatever testing the doctor prescribed before your interview date.

Here's a surefire way to make everything go well - PRAY.

2-0. In favor of the boys.
