aye. and even if they do get the stamp, it's only valid for 90 days, so you have to apply for the EAD anyways.

And many people have reported having problems getting a job with the EAD stamp, plus if it expires before you get the EAD, you have to leave your job and wait to be work authorized again...that's why we didn't sweat the stamp

Correct... the EAD stamp is useless anyways because its only valid for 90 days, and nobody wants to hire someone for a temp job when its not the right season for it.. im sure they would love to hire temps for xmas/new years.. but not now lol... just get married ASAP and start filing your AOS/AP/EAD stuff

That's all depend of the kind of job you do ! Mine, can be contract based (1 months, 2 month, up to 8 or 9 months in general)

Also the technologies goes ultra fast and to not work even for 3 monthsis somehow a problem....

But anyway, i really i can't have it, i will probably get myself busy and do some things to add to my portfolio or learn new software and techniques during the time i'm waiting.... and still i would have prefer to work.

Make sure you apply for the EAD under C9 not the A6 category. Plus have you applied for an SSN yet?

Well, you can still apply for jobs and if I'm not mistaken, even start working somewhere.

Employers do NOT (indeed cannot) require a SSN to interview with you or to actually let you start as an employee. You DO need to provide one before you can be paid though...gotta provide the payroll folks with it.

So:

- wait 2 weeks after entry

- apply for SSN

in the meantime you may have had an interview or just started frying burgers somewhere...then fork on over the SSN and you will get paid.

There is a lot of defeatism, negativity and/or wishful thinking re: this whole working during the first 90 days.

It's almost as if some folks WANT to convince themselves that it

a) won't be worth it to try getting an EA

B) won't be possible to get a job

We're all in different boats, folks. IF we are willing to go through the motions of getting an EA (or in lieu of that convincing employers that the I-94 with K1 status is enough) and getting a job, then it WILL be worth it. Extra cash, something to do etc.

moreover, we could start a job, quit for x number of days/weeks once the I-94 expires and then restart once we get the EAD.

Conversely, IF you want to walk the dog, brew some mean beer, catch up on LOST etc instead, then that's cool too. That sounds awesome to me.

What is weird is that some people seem to assume there is one way, the right way.

I've been trying to get something here, but maybe not as hard as I could have.
