I will have to look at people more closely, I don't think I would notice if they were wearing pyjamas. Is the idea that the pj's are worn because one can't be bothered to get dressed, or is more that the pj's are bought as every day wear and they change into them before proceeding outside?

Are crocs those plastic sandals with all the holes in? I see them in places like Target, but rarely on people's feet. Mostly people wear flip flops around here.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I have to agree about those Croc things. You see them in cheap stores but rarely on feet!

Purple...I'm 35 and I have worn them in the morning to drop my son at school or later in the evening when I'm already in my jammies for the night and don't feel like getting dressed again to run out. As I said, I live in a tiny rural town and others do it all the time so I don't feel self conscious in the least. Plus, I don't really care much what other people think anyway. :) I'm not wearing anything revealing or offensive in a rude sort of way...so if all I'm offending is one's fashion sense...big fat hairy deal! LOL. :) M.

I am sure people have always done that for convenience but I got the impression this was some kind of 'fashion statement' thingy which is why I wondered if they are special 'outdoor' pyjamas.

KT, I bet you'd look quite fetching in a pair of green crocs.

Some do, indeed, wear them for fashion reasons, but for those that do it out of convenience.... The thought of wearing clothes, that I wore to a store filled with people and products, inside my bed feels filthy. Sort of like cross contamination. I want fresh clothes at night that do not have the day's dirt and germs all over them. Its one of things I appreciate about my fiancée's culture. Just for the reasons stated, Russians don't wear "home clothes" and slippers outdoors.

:)

PJs are worst when they have words written on the #######. All in all we are an offensively tacky nation when it comes to fashion. My eyes burn out of my face regularly. People who don't care (the kind that usually end up on the make-over shows) don't really bother me. It's the ones who think they're fashionable and just in general look a mess.

There's a girl in my program at school who often wears a denim miniskirt that barely covers her bum, black leggings, black leather hooker boots that fold just below her knees. This does not give her any sex appeal; rather, it diminishes any that she may have been born with. She also plucks her eyebrows so they only go from the outer sides of her eyes to the middle, so she looks like she burnt off the middle of her face. Usually she's also wearing a revealing top. She tops this outfit off with frizzy black hair in a ponytail and way, way too much eye makeup.

She's Russian though, so I guess maybe there are different standards. But her outfits are really distracting.

If you wear it to bed, don't wear it out. If other people typically wear it to bed, don't wear it out. If you like comfort, get yoga pants, more acceptable and much less tacky. I HATE those sweatpants with the words written on the bum. Why not just put on a sign that says look at my A$$. SO TRASHY! My brothers step daughter is 17 and has the worst fashion sense in the history of the world! If it isn't 2 sizes too tight, shows her breasts or shows her bum, then it's ugly. She told me once that the style for 2007 was slutty  I can't wait till she gets knocked up...

Ughi i hate it when people wear pajama pants/sweat pants in public, especially with uggs. it's like you don't care enough to put on a proper pair of pants or a skirt. just gross.

but then again i was also raised with the russian notion of "home" clothes and "street" clothes, which Kazan' Tiger mentioned. There were a couple of girls in my elementary school class who wore sweatpants to school, and my mom thought it was really offensive and felt that I shouldn't really hang out with these poorly-raised girls.

However, I must say I cringe when I see the occasional pudgy middle-aged guy with sweatpants and crocs. Especially orange crocs.

I think crocs look really ugly. But don't listen to me, I have -4254 fashion points. I don't even wear makeup.

I wear crocs for work but I'm a chef so it's allowed. They're really comfy when you're on your feet all day.

I sleep naked so my "comfy" clothes really aren't my PJs. I will run quick errands in my comfy clothes or on Saturday mornings I wear them to do the grocery shopping. The comfy clothes consist of grey or black PJs that no one would think were PJs unless I told you they were and some sort of hoodie or zip up jacket and running shoes. It actually looks like I'm just going to the gym or something not like I'm walking around in my PJs
