Horrible...

Though this is definitely not standard for all. Most military members are professionals. The people in these videos, especially the puppy #######, will be punished.

This is what happens because of dipshits like this:

These acts are caused by anti-war protestors ?????!!!!

Wow.

Don't misinterpret what I wrote. It's the other way around.

We have anti-military protesters because of people like the puppy thrower.

But since you are quoting my link, please note that an anti-war protest here is just as much an anti-military protest. Burning soldier effigies, burning the flag, and harrassing anyone that resembles a military member.

So, why should I have to be subjected to stereotypical violence in my own city?

I think they should prosecute those that do such things. I am all for it. 6 months in the Brig for such behavior and a black marks on their records.

I assure you, there is much more than a black mark.

Dishonorable discharge is what the Man will give.

The repercussions of this:

- No voting

- No possessing firearms

- No respectable company will hire ( even including minimum wage jobs )

- Basically your life is over

I know Matt. And I know that most soldiers are not like the ones on here. Just like obnoxious protesters, these soldiers give a very bad name to the ones who are doing their jobs honorably.

OK thanks for clarifying -- I didn't understand what you meant.

However, I don't agree that anti-war protests are "because of people like the puppy-thrower." In fact, many people, both in the U.S. and around the world, protested the Iraq War from the very start.

I know that most members of the U.S. military are honorable, professional people. I come from a military family myself -- I grew up on Air Force bases, and my father served 31 years in the uniform.

Dishonorable discharges are almost always converted to "Other than Honorable" after--IIRC--6 months. There has to be a criminal conviction in most cases for a Dishonorable to stick, and even then a good lawyer can get it changed. An "Other than Honorable" discharge can mean anything from the soldier was thrown out for discipline reasons to the soldier was released due to the "needs of the military." The discharge itself will not specify the reason, and employers aren't allowed to ask. Other than Honorable discharges permit full access to normal veterans benefits and do not disqualify the soldier from entering civil service.

If you think these guys will be punished, they may well be. But the chances are very good that once the military is done with them they'll be able to get a good government job, perhaps even as a highly paid contractor back in Iraq.

Well, I'm not talking about peaceful anti-war protests. Anti-military is what I am talking about. There is a difference between the two.

I've got no problems with people who dislike the war. Hell, I have my own feelings about the war too.

But in this instance, these people are protesting the military. They fail to realize that the military doesn't create the policy; they execute it.

They are fueled by situations like the marine who tossed the puppy and they are out for violence.

Bullshit (with all due respect). This is a public humiliation of the military. It is taken very seriously, I assure you. Those with a Dishonorable Discharge have the same rights as a gutter rat.

I believe you are mistaken as well. A general discharge can be upgraded to honorable within 6 months. Not a dishonorable discharge.

Believe what you want to believe. It's hard to get a dishonorable discharge to stick these days.

Yes. Yes it does. Never said I support it. That's just the way it is. Just because it offends your sensibilities doesn't make it any less true.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
