K-1 in India

Hello,

Doing research on K-1 visa and want to find out how successful they are in India.

1) Fiances parents are in India and they won't be travelling to wedding in US. And none of her relatives are in US. As consulate must be aware of India customs, this seems odd. Would this cause k-1 denial?

2) During interview, it seems they always ask "Why do you want to get married in the US?"

Our reason would be that we want to live together after marriage. Is that good enough reason? I am not sure what they are looking for.

Can people from India please share you thoughts on the above questions or successful experiences?

Thanks.

Most fiance(e)s parents are in India and most of them do not travel to the US for the wedding.. I have not heard of anybody getting a denial because of that reason. Mine are not coming either. I was asked the same question and so were most of the others. The reason does not have to be a big one. They just want to know if its a decision you both made and the intention is not fraud..

I would not worry about it.. All the best :thumbs:

hi,

When your paper work is fine, proof of relationship is fine... nothing is gonna happen. You should state the perfect reason why parents wont be accompanying.... everyone lives together after marriage... thats not the reason you should give. The reason you can give are job constraints, time constraints, health of the parents , money constraints and if any other. It depends if you have love or arranged marriage too. If girls relatives cant be there... atleasts the boys in the USA will be... least thr 2 friends.....

Ours will be a love marriage. My parents wont be able to come to US for our wedding.

Reason 1 : Our engagement happened in front of my family members. It was so unplanned that my Fiance's parents were not able to come at that time. Hence we discussed and felt that the 2nd ceremony should happen in their presence. However due to time and job constaints all of them can not come down to India.

Reason 2 : Initially we had plans that my parents will be there for our wedding in US & thus we filed for K1. But with time, circumstances have changed and now they cant be physically there for wedding in US. We are taking their blessings with us.

Reason 3 : Pertaining to Reason 1&2, we filed K1. And now we do not have option of getting married in India before getting married in US. Since we want both of our parents blessings, our plans are to get married in US and then come back to India for the Indian Ceremony.

Yeye, your question is very valid, it seems to be a favourite question of CO too

This question is asked quite often. I too was asked and I replied CO in the same manner as above. We both (me and my fiance) are Indian and am pretty sure CO was convinced to see that our decision was based on our mutual understanding of the circumstances and Indian family values.

Reason 4 : (which I havnt told anyone) I do not want to stay away from my husband after marriage. Once married we want to be together forever after :luv: We do not want to stay away from each other in desperation, not even for a single day.
