Yes, we read that on the Texas Dept of Public Safety website. When we were checking this out months ago, it said he had to have a Social Security number and a photo id (passport) as well as pass written and driving tests. So after having the SS card ordered we looked it up again and d@mmit, they changed the rules as of Oct. 1. I was then wondering if it took a US license to get added to insurance, so asked my agent. No problems with that, so he doesn't need to have a Texas Driver's license for a year.

Funny story: He's already been stopped by the police. His car that I bought in July has mostly been sitting in the garage. I drove it just a few times to keep the battery charged. So you know how the last month has gone...hurricane, clean-up, no power, sudden trip to England for 10 days, wedding, etc. So I hadn't thought about or looked at his car since early September. He hadn't driven because of his collarbone and ribs being so sore. He noticed the inspection sticker expired at the end of September. I told him we would drive it to coffee the next day and drop it at the place next door and they would get it done while we sipped cappuccino with our friends. He decided he felt well enough to drive that morning. It's a straight shot, down one road, just a mile or so to get there. BUT wouldn't you know it...the eagle-eyed cop on a motorcycle spotted it and wheeled around and turned on his flashing red lights. Officer Sidebottom...I swear that's his real name...questioned him alot and called in his UK license number over the radio. Nick said, "I've only been in your country a few days." Anyway, he gave him a warning and sent us on our way.

This thread was so lost, I had to do a search for it. I realized I hadn't reported in our latest to the Marchies. Hoping to hear something from Aleena soon.

Oh, you've been waiting a long time. Have you called them to try to nudge them along? Most everybody in your timeframe has had their petition approved months ago. I'm not sure of anything that's been successful for others since our moved along at a normal pace. Estadia and also Sunnybear come to mind as people that had to wait a long time. You might PM Sunnybear and ask her what kind of tricks she tried. Kim will probably know too. She's got a better memory than me and she'll come along and post I'm sure. Well she does have a wedding this weekend so may be swamped with things to do. Your not technically past due until that processing time is later than your filing date, so they normally give you a canned answer to wait until your date past due. I think some people call USCIS and "pretend" they have an RFE just to get through to somebody to talk to. I guess it's in the call menu, but I never called it so don't know for sure. Search for "RFE trick" because that rings a bell as what they call it on VJ.

Wishing you the best.

hey guys!!!!!

YES, WE ARE MARRIED!!!!! and it feels great... It is not at at all different but just the tought of being Mrs. K no makes my hair stand..lol

It was a short ceremony at the court house with 2 dear friends of mine as guests. The reception will be sometime by the end of the year, with Lee's family and friends. and we are also thinking to have a religious ceremony also if it is possible, since we're already married. we will have to look into it.

So one down, 2 more 2 go! :) The stress of wedding preparation is just starting and it is funny cause we're married already...but it is what it is... We have to play by USCIS rules and do the best we can to make our families and friends happy.

We spend a wonderful 4 day honey moon in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. I wanted something to make me feel more like home and Virginia was a great choice. Had some American history lessons and stopped at every antiques store on the road. We are both crazy about antique stores and Lee also got me hooked on auctions...lol We go almost every week!

Our AOS paperwork will be in the mail today! Hope i have everything ready! I guess it is time to move to the AOS thread, but i wouldn't let this one go before saying out loud that I GOT MARRIED to the most wonderful man! And we are so excited about the rest of our lives together! I pray God gives us everlasting love, health and children :)

I am so happy for you, Alina! :) Michael and I spent our first two weeks together, in the fall of 2006, just in the Blue Ridge Mountains area, near Asheville, NC... It was utterly glorious, and I really hope we'll be able to go back there for our honeymoon. Unfortunately, I am still stuck here until heaven knows how long for matters related to my late aunt's inheritance... and because of a totally unsupportive brother. Well, I just hope my departure won't be delayed by more than one or two weeks.. Michael left Rome this morning, and at the moment I'm feeling understandably sad. I would've liked more than anything to be able to tell him, I'll be coming on Day X...

Hi folks

Well my revised I -134 arrived by fedex last monday(6th), send it by Royal Mail( guaranteed next day delivery) that day and....

received my visa Friday, the day after my flight back to the states! Fortunately I got a last minute flight on Kuwait airways on Saturday for only $420, had three seats to myself so slept all the way across the pond, arrived home in Vermont on Sunday and got married on Tuesday. WOW glad that is all over.

So, this is my last post here, see you all in AOS!!!

All the best to everyone.

John

Well congratulations to you on your arrival in America and your marriage. Wild and crazy pace...you must be exhausted.

Hope things settle down soon for you. Maybe not just yet since you have to start the AOS stuff now. I finally feel like we are at a more normal pace and we can start doing some fun things. I'm taking Nick to see LA Galaxy v. Houston Dynamo on Saturday night. It'll be like having a date. Cool.

Well.....we are still on the process....what can I say? I called the Argentinean embassy and the ID are talikng now 1 year! (for those who dont know what im talking about...I lost my Argentinean ID and I need it for a police report from there: the police report takes 2 weeks and the ID 1 year! they wont give you the police report without presenting the ID) So...we did get approved in 34 days! but because I lost this ID I have to wait 1 year....I have cried so many times over the stupidity of this. Many times I lost hope and even stopped trying to gather other things. We have everything required now, except for the Argentinean police report. As I see the things...I have at least 6 months to go....waiting for a stupid blank page!.

I dont really log in that much cause I feel bad everytime I think about our situation.

Lets hope for the best! Tuty

Congratulations Mrs. Alina K. :)

Congratulations to you as well John!

Tuty, I'm so sorry you are still waiting. :( As you know, we had to wait a year to file (because of my long drawn out divorce) and it was very painful but I do hope you can keep your spirits up! I can tell you that it WILL COME and when it does it will be worth every single second! I do hope it comes a lot sooner than you are thinking it will. Please do keep us posted.

glad to see March clearning out. See you all in AOS!
