My call didn't happen yet... I tried three times from my cellphone, all unsuccessfully. I'll try from home later, provided I can find someone after 6 p.m. I can't access toll numbers from my office phones, and I've tried to find a payphone around here for most of the day - frustrating as hell! To add insult to injury, I will have to stay here at work until at least 5, though I've been here since 8 a.m. - of course, I was told this morning! Well, hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get hold of them, unless I can later tonight.

Kim, I am so very happy for you! I hope it's going to end soon for us too.. These last few weeks are really stressful, and that's an understatement.

Timeline

I am delighted to read everybody's updates today!

KIM.... you guys made it! I am sooo happy for you! I I perfectly understand you saying the last year feels like didn't even happen. I had the same feeling the second i was back in my baby's arms. Nothing ever changed... I'm sure all of us here know that feeling...that beautiful sign of true love... and that reassurance that things are all right and they will always be like that!

Welcome back ANA! We missed you greatly! And good luck with looking for a job. I myself haven't looked yet...although i too got the temporary work authorization. I kind of helped my baby a little with his paperwork at the office. but that only a couple days a week and his love was the only "reward" :D

I hope getting my EAD after marriage won't take too long and I can start having a normal life...With work...stress...and all that good stuff ;)

It kind of sucks that we are not allowed to work in between... What is even the point of that temporary permit? You can't just apply for a job and say...well...i am only allowed to work for 2 months and then i will have to take a break until....ooops...i actually don;t even have an idea on when i will be allowed to start back... Is that ok with you Mr Potential Employer? Totally sucks... I really hope you can find a job where they understand your situation. I wonder what would happen if you actually continued to work until you got the EAD. Whould they investigate about that? It is supposed to be 45-90 days...

NICH have a safe trip home!!! And enjoy having your man back with you! I am sure your wedding will be wonderful! Your love will brighten up everything around!

Good luck dealing with the embassy Raffaella! Hope your day comes soon!

Today we are picking up our wedding bands! So excited! we ordered them last week but they both needed resizing. Maybe because my finger is a size 3...:D

Had a nice Sunday! my baby was back after being away for 5 days and i missed him soooo! We rode his ATVs in the woods and it was great! I actually started to get into that stuff! He got me fishing..riding a three wheeler...bar hopping on bikes... Nex thing you know i will be shooting deer this winter...lol (very very poor chance)

I am having my driving test this week so i can get an American DL. I do not have to much driving experience and i never drove in the US until now... So we still need to work on my driving skills before i hit the highway by myself. Yesterday i drove alone and i was fine :)

Happy Monday!

mama nich, i replied to your thread in AOS. Us Apriler's have been trying to decide where we're going to go so that seems the perfect spot to me! ;)

Alina, thank you so much sweetheart. :) I can just imagine how much you are missing home and i'm sorry for that. :( I know it would be very hard for me to leave as well. I think that like with all kinds of change, there is a process which you must go through to 'adjust'.

If I may impose a little wisdom on you.... as you may know, Russell already 'moved' here for over a year in 2006. He became acclimated very quickly even though his whole family is in NZ and AUS. Because he was forced to leave and go back to NZ, he sees clearly that this has now become his home. I'm sure that took some time. Hopefully the same will happen for you. :)

The world is surely not as big as it seems... we are all perfect examples of that.

many happy wishes to everyone!

Congratulation Kim!

I am so happy for you and Russ.

God Bless You Always

Stevi

Hi everybody--

We are in the USA together!!! We arrived Tues afternoon (30th). POE was fast and easy. It was a slow time for international arrivals so no lines and nobody else in the processing room. They didn't ask any questions at all, just stamped the visa and reminded him of the 90 days to marry, etc. My daughters had left work to come greet us as the airport. They were so cute. They had a Welcome sign, an American flag, a helium balloon saying 'Welcome Home', and had on flashing red, white, and blue pins and gaudy American flag beads. They were too cute. They said they figured people thought they were probably waiting on a returning soldier. Then we did what we always do after a trip abroad....go to a Mexican restaurant. We always need a Tex-Mex food fix after being away.

We were exhausted after finally getting home. I'm still slighty off on time zones because I went to sleep too early last night and now it's 4 AM and I'm awake too early. We went to get our marriage license ($67) on Wednesday afternoon and that was very easy. I thought we would have to wait for the marriage certificate to be mailed back to us. The girl told us that we just need to have the wedding officiant sign the license after the wedding Sunday and we can bring it back Monday in person. Recording it takes about 5 minutes and they will give us the official marriage certificate and we can pay for a certified copy and get that too. I have to look up AOS details and see if the marriage certificate has a to be certified ($20) or just a copy. The forms are pretty much done already, but I need to review the details and get everything orderly for filing next week. But for the rest of this week...we need to get unpacked, organized, and get the wedding things ironed out for Sunday afternoon.

Hi

well I had my embassy interview on 1st Oct and failed to get the visa! all was going well until we got to the I134 question 11 where we ticked the box to say that Karen would not be supporting me (there is no need, I have plenty of money) and that, apparently, is a big mistake. Should have said she wes even though she does not need to. So left the embassy and have to get a revised I134 from the states back to me in the UK,forward that to the embassy with my passport and hope that gets the visa and back to me before next wednesday night as I am scheduled to fly to JFK on thursday morning.

Problem is I left the embassy without paying for the courier service (paid for the visa though)and not sure how to organise this as It is impossible to phone the embassy and they don't reply to emails apparently.

Ah well, the moral of the story- beware of question 11 on the I134 and lie if necessary.

Cheers

John

Well that's a bummer John. So did she send in financial information to go with the I-134, and just said no about providing specific contributions? And did you bring documents to show you were going to self support, since she wasn't going to?

We interviewed in London at the end of July and I did not check either box and on the lines put-- N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence ). But I provided all the information and tax returns and letter from employer. Graham and Megan in the April filers had a problem similar to yours because he did the exact same thing I did (like the VJ sample says to do.) Here's his post http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;#entry2185454

In London, if they aren't approving you that day, they don't keep your passport or have you pay the courier. When they get the documents from you and process them, they will notify you to contact SMS to pick up your passport for delivery back to them. Then when they print the visa and put it in your passport, SMS will deliver it back to you. I don't see how you're going to get that done in a weeks time, since you're waiting on documents from the states too. SMS took a week to get Nick's visa to him. It isn't necessarily an overnight service, but sometimes people get theirs in 2-3 days. A week was on the long side. You can call that toll number to talk to the embassy. Did they tell you to send the passport with the papers or was that just your plan?

Keep us posted on how it's going.

thank you my March friends. Looking forward to the next step with you folks. :)

Alina... size 3 finger??? You're just a wee bit of a thing, eh? Somehow I can't see you 4-wheeling and shooting a gun. Congrats on getting your rings.

Nich...already responded in April thread but welcome home..again. Will be thinking of you on Sunday. :)

Sorry about your issues with London, John. It seems there are CO's in London now requiring that question be answered differently. How I wish the standards set were the same for all. It's just unfair. I hope it doesn't hold you up for long.

We will be married two weeks from tomorrow. Just ordered our rings which will be in just in time. This was supposed to be a small ceremony but it's turned into an event with about 100 or so people. Quite alright as it's still going to be just an informal event. Our ceremony in April will be quite the bash. ;)

OK, now this is starting to worry me!! I've told 'er indoors to follow the example form and tick NEITHER box, writing "N/A (K1 Visa Process For Permanent Residence)"

Is this wrong??????

It seems some CO's in London are requiring the 'other' answer. This is the 3rd time in the past couple of months i've seen this. Two have got through with the standard answers we all put but it seems John was not. :( You probably want to contact the Embassy and explain the discrepencies and ask specifically what you should have her do. Make sure you have a copy of the response at the interview.

If it were me, I would surely alert the Embassy as to the discrepencies we've noted here on VJ and ask what the appropriate answer would be so that this does not happen to anyone else.

As an alternative, you could have her make two notorized copies. ;)

Hey guys!!!!

Today was the day i failed my driving test...I hoped it would be the day Sarah Palin triped on stage...but noooo... It was just the day I failed my driving skills test... So to make the story short... I was over worried about my parallel parking and i had practised it 2 days in a row and i did great at the test...but i guess i was so excited about having done everything right that i ran the last stop sign..i mean for some reason that i cannot explain to myself i slowed down but did not completely stop... :(( Now Lee is drawing stop signs all around the house and i know he is going to tease me for the rest of my life... Oh well...i will take it again in a week or so... The good thing is when i will go back to take it we will be already married so maybe i can get my DL with my new name and i won't have to go back later and change it. that in case i remember to STOP at SToP signs...lol

For now i think i will have to settle with my old Romanian license...lol Maybe i should have told the instructor we don't have STOP signs in Romania! I am sure he would have believed me :))

Welcome back Nich and Nick! must be exciting to be so close to the day! We are not too far either :) Your girls must have been so cute!

Hope you have gorgeous weather this weekend!

John i am hoping you will have things fixed very soon so you won't have to change your travel plans but if you will have too i think the excitment of being so close to it and have it all done with will make it a lot easier ;)

Lovely weather here at the beach in Maryland! i was thinking about going to the gym for a little but it feels so nice out i might acutally go to the beach!

hope everybody has a goregous weekend and can't wait for Sunday to congratulate Nich who has been and still is the pillar of this thread! and a great advisor and great friend for many of us!

Hi Guys

Thanks for the comments.

The CO admitted that the problem with the question 11 is a common one and that they have complained about the design of the form but to no avail. Federal beurocracy is glacial in pace as we all know. Karen has Fedexed a revised I134 at great cost that should be herein the UK today but as yet has not arrived. Thought I might try to deliver the revised document and passport to the Embassy myself (a 400 mile round trip) but does anyone know if they will accept hand delivered documents given how paranoid they are about 'Security'.

My problem is that I am about 200 miles from the embassy but I could be in a hotel just around the corner if SMS would deliver the visa back to that hotel address rather than my 'home' address.

Anyone have any experience of this? and anyone know a phone number for the embassy that will actually get you to a person?

cheers

John
