Congratulations to everyone!!!!

Don't want to sound self-defeating, but I hope you can understand my frustration. I have always tried to be hopeful, but some days it is not easy at all. Anyway, I don't want to bore any of you, especially those who are celebrating their NOA2s... I'd like to think ours is on its way, and I really hope it is. It's not that I am afraid we won't be approved - rather that we'll be stuck in limbo for heaven knows how long. The Naples Consulate is not noted for its celerity, which means it could be another three-month wait for the interview.

Though I realise my case is a bit odd, I am not worried about the actual wedding at all. You see, there won't be anyone else but Michael and I there, and possibly a couple of guys from his workplace if we need witnesses. I am estranged from my closest family (my brother), my only other living relatives are too elderly to travel to the US, and I have no friends who would come there. We'll go to the courthouse, and that will be it... I don't really care, because I've never been one for big weddings, and I thought I'd never get married anyway. However, I really wish all your weddings will be wonderful, and that you will be surrounded by all the people who love you.

I think I've figured out the trick...I leave for a couple of hours and when I come back, Igor's list has more approvals. It's been an eventful start to the week, and so much better than those weeks when nothing happens and nobody posts.

Bex--I know your parents were very proud sitting in the stalls watching you graduate. Congratulations.

Glad you have the interview Ana. It's so much better when you have some concrete dates to go by. All that waiting and wondering starts eating away at your brain until you're a crazy person. People keep asking when I'm getting married and I say, I don't know, but it's different when you're marrying a foreigner...you just don't have control of the timeline.

We aren't going to plan anything and he's not telling anybody at work until the visa arrives in the passport and in his hands. I actually haven't even told my brother yet. He lives across the state and in Texas that can be a long way...in this case a 7 hour drive and that's only halfway across. hahahaha. Guess I need to call him and catch him up. Boy, will he be surprised! The other people I can't find the courage to tell is my in-laws, who live right here in my town. They are 90 years old and I know still grieve losing their son. I don't want to offend them by moving on with my life, and I'm so afraid they might feel hurt. I know they will think I'm moving on and excluding them because they're like that...have never wanted to seem like they are trouble or get in our way. I still want them over for Thanksgiving and Christmas just like always, and hope they will believe that and feel comfortable. It's odd, but I just don't have experience with second marriages. There's not one person with a second spouse in either of our families from grandparents, aunts, uncles, parents, siblings, children. That's pretty unusual, but this Christmas we are going to hang a new stocking on the mantle, God-willing, and I am so excited.

Raffaella, I am one of the most positive people you will ever meet (admittedly annoyingly so sometimes ) but it's who I am and my life has taught me that it's really the only way to be if you're to survive the ####### life can throw at you. It's easier for those of us on the outside to look and see that you just might need someone to help hold you up sometimes as you wait... perhaps you're just not used to that with so little support around you rihgt now..but it's something that i've always had around me, it's why i've survived, and it's my opinion .... it's just what you need right now.... that's what we're here for sweetie. Nobody is offended... we just see it clearly as we look from the outside in. We're here to help hold you up when you find it hard to stand...we're here to remind you that it's coming. Hopefully you find much more of that as you enter into this new chapter of your life IN THE US... ;) ... surrounding yourself with all that is good and right is what keeps life worth living! Think positive...and when you find yourself self-defeating ..just take a step back and think.... and remember that all dreams take time and effort to come true. ;) If you think about it... anything that is worth anything in this life takes hard work!

Ana... so excited for you darlin! :)

Nich... ooo tough one with the in-laws. I can understand your anxiety there but i'm sure they'll still be so happy for you that you have found love again. I'm sure your late husband would be as well. :) I do hope it all works out for you and that you are pleasantly surprised by the reactions that you receive. If not... oh well! ;)

I'm lucky in that my family is very close and trust completely in my decisions... they are truly wonderful people. They still care about my ex husband (as do I) but they adore Russell and he's already a big part of everyone's lives here. Even my ex thinks he's a great choice for me... go figure. Everyone is so anxious to get him back home and I can not wait to be able to tell them he's coming. :)

Sometimes I wish my mom was still here in order to meet Michael.. I know he wishes he'd been able to meet her. In some odd way, they are very similar, at least in an aspect which I consider to be very important - their curiosity and openness about life in general. And I know they would've been able to communicate very well, even without speaking each other's language - my mom could communicate with a stone :D! I just wish my brother was more like her, and less under his wife's thumb... But, as we all know, though we can choose our friends or partners, we don't get to choose our family. Michael knows that all too well.... His father deserted his mother when he was 5, and she seriously ill, and his mother in turn failed him badly last year, when he would've needed her support. This is why it is so important for us to be together.

Oh, I'm quite certain they will act happy, but I hope they won't feel like they're no longer part of my family. They're really the only ones I worry about. I think losing a child has to be the hardest. Like my oldest daughter observed, "Grandmother just never got it," meaning she never accepted that terminal diagnosis. I think the kids and I worked through it spread over the two years of illness. Grandmother always thought the next treatment would be a miracle and then he was gone and she was shocked and she didn't ever say everything she could have said. If any of you get in a situation where a loved one is terminally ill, don't feel like you have to be cheery and talk about the weather. Take the time to tell them how much they've meant to you and everything you appreciated about them. Cry with them instead of for them later, because it helps everybody. Just a life lesson I picked up and totally off-topic.

Let's get back to the dancing :dancing: .... and the  VIBES~~~~~~ for our good people here who are so in love (L)

Congrats BEX for your graduation and ANA for your interview date!

i have some good news also. my baby had his sinus surgery today and everything went well. i actually thought he won't be able to talk today but just as i was getting ready to call his sister and find out how he was doing phone rang and it was him!!! :D I don't know why i was so worried about it...maybe becasue i've seen him being sick for a long time and just want everything to be okay... Thank God it is nothing very serious...but serious enough... Sometimes he was coughing so bad he couldn't even talk... but hopefully he will feel better after this procedure. and i will be there soon to make sure there is no ice in the freezer and the AC doesn't go under 87 F :D

I started to sort out my clothes today. i only have one week left!!!!

i wanted to surprise my friends in America and just walk in at my old job...but i just couldn't keep it a secret! It would have been nice to just show up... but i'm too excited!

i'm going gift shopping for them tomorrow. gonna buy a dozen Dracula miniature statues... Hope that will do ;)

looks like the VCS and CSC are rolling! Keep it coming! we need a couple more happy faces in here!!!!!

RAFAELLA you are up very soon!!! and that little approval email that's going to be in your mailbox any time now will give you a whole new perspective! You'll see!!! And regarding the consulate moving slow... I read that sometimes writing a request lettler to them when you mail back packet 3 might help... Say you already have a wedding date planned and were hoping the process would take less... Worth giving it a try!

I guess i was super lucky in that respect. 3 days after i mailed back P3 they called me to schedule interview for the coming week. On the other hand...the interview was more like an interrogatory and made me feel prety uncomfortable... But all behind now!

Why don't you try the "i do not care Mr. USCIS adjudicator" attitude...lol.... just for the sake of it...lol

I am sure it is coming whether you stress about it or not ;)

much love,

Alina

Congratulations on those who got their approvals and interview dates. For those of you still waiting... keep your head up and think positive. Our case left NVC over a week ago and has yet to arrive at the embassy. It's difficult to have to wait again, but I know I will be with my fiance soon. It's hard when you have no control over what happens, but you have to keep thinking of the end reward.
