Relationship Proof Affidavit

Hi everybody!

I am struggling with the relationship proof affidavits for I-130. Do they have to be notarized? Has anybody successfully used non-notarized affidavits? Do they have to be notarized by an American notary?

Any official that can give oaths can witness the signature, I am quite sure there are notaries in Canada. The notary does not need to be American.

I didn't notirize mine. There is nothing said in the instructions about having to do so. Just be sure that all information asked for such as name, date and place of birth, address, and relationship to you is in there.

I didn't have my affidavit of bona fide relationship document notarized either.

I was married to my wife in China on February 1, 2008. I had here get members of family to write affidavits, as well as others who attended the wedding. They were notarized by Chinese notary. I hsd some from people here in the U.S.complete letters too. they signed in front of notary here.

Is the notary required? Probably not, but what can it hurt! The people who know you and love you are willing to help. JUST be sure to have them include all the information, such as name, address, etc. on letter. Good luck!

as for married in china they give you a notarized register marriage certifate and the marriage certifate it self. that is prove of the bond marriage
