No matter how you look at the system employed by the USCIS its flawed in every way. Starting form unacceptable wait times, that drive families apart. Followed by impossible to see the person with the no Visitors visa after you've submited I-130/I-129. And the best is that if were to do it the "other" way and not the acceptable way we'd already be together and not have to suffer through this bureaucratic bull ####. Think about it, yes we can just wait, and hope that we might get lucky and get our paperwork done faster, but what if you are one of few that can take years to approve? We can sit and wait or we can do something.

P.S. Oh and I forgot useless customer support you get when calling to check on your status.

Here is my story. I've lived problem free life, payed my taxes. One day I decided to marry this girl. But to do so would require her to come to US of A, and so it started. My problem free live turned in to free problems from USCIS! Sure things turned to unsure, certain dates turned to aproximation within months. All logical thinking was out the door, as I filed my papers withing famous Vermont Centre!

It's not easy, and that's an understatement. It's been difficult to pass the time. But honestly, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Glen and I have definitely become much stronger as a couple through all this. Our communication skills have grown, that's for sure. There's a light at the end of the tunnel! We're 16 days from being together for good!! And we've been a couple since September, 2005, so that's a long time to be apart. But we made it!! Our love saw us through, just like we always knew it would. Following all these rules isn't fun, but doing this the "right" way will ensure that we can stay together. (L)

I agree totally. The system is totally flawed from beginning to end. Once you submit you have no idea what happens. Its dropped into a big black hole and you hear nothing. And while we sit and wait and wait - thousands of illegal aliens cross the border, can live with and be with their loved ones, and will probably be simply handed citizenship on a silver platter by President Clobama while we LEGAL immigrants continue to suffer. It almost feels like illegal immigration is encouraged sometimes. We legal immigrants should be treated better, but many times it feels like we are treated worse.

I tried to get people to do something Ilya, but it seems that people are more interested in talking about the problem than actually doing anything about it. Americans USED to be a culture of action, and now we are a culture of grumbling. Welcome to the USA, whenever it happens. I wish you a speedy journey.

To be honest, Im kinda regretting what I did. I have been going in and out of US since I was a kid. I still have a valid tourist visa till next year. And now, since my fiancee filed the K1, I can't travel to see him and he is waiting to get a vacation from work so he could travel and come here. My point here is, I could have done it "the other way" but we chose to take the long route. All my life, Ive always been doing "the right thing". I always follow the rules and Im a law abiding person. I believe in honesty is the best policy. But sometimes, it doesnt mean that you will get fair treatment. I have seen petitions filed after me getting approvals. While my case is....well, still pending. Who knows how long we are going to wait. All we can do is hope and pray that the person looking at our papers is having a great day or is in a good mood.

Sorry guys... Im just missing my fiancee so much. I gave him my speech... the i-love-you-so-much-but-what-if-the-person-looking-at-our-papers-doesn't-want-us-to-be-together? I-want-you-to-be-happy-so-i-will-let-you-go. So he gave me the its-impossible-to-be-happy-if-i-dont-have-you answer. So if there's any consolation to this journey, its me and my fiancee getting closer... and holding on to each other more. Its like watching our love story in a movie...we cant wait whats gonna happen next.

I don't think there is any problem with the law. It is not suppose to take 9 months to approve one form. I think if we take one employee from uscis to court, they all will start working properly. I belive it is do-able. We just need to bring one of them to justice and the whole process will change magically.

I dont think you understand what I am pointing out. The law rewards the lawbreakers, and makes lawfull citizen suffer. Does it not feel unjust?

donyou think it easy to get all the paper work faster. everything take time. you cannot rush you immigration either. after 9/11 they have to check everything to make sure that every person intent to immigrate to the US is legimate. it only took 20 sec to look at your paper work and said u are approval. if the process it easy then everyone inthe world already wanting to come to the US already. yes your time with your love one is important but no matter how long u wait u still be united.

I don't think, I know for a fact there can be a more efficient way of handling claims papers and applications. Most of Application based subsidies in US already have an alternative way of imputing information in the system. Digital data is where it should be. It'll be faster more efficient and less paperwork. And if you think that it takes 12 months for paper to get approved, than you sit and wait for it. I worked in organization that ran information collection for applications and other data input, and even private entity worked 80 faster than government does. And please dont compare 20 seconds, to 12 months. and another thing main reason Why I posted this, is to get people who feel the same way as I do involved not people who just want to defend someone but unfortunately dont know what they are talking about.

it not a comparison from 20 sec and 12 month. let said if you can get your paper work ready hand it in you expect your paper to complete in the time manner. you compare a private organization to a country government.

there are alway winer and complainer in the world no matter what other do or said. even it perfect or not.

like i said everything take time you can rush them. even your immigration should also take time.

if you think it a hassle to immigrate here then why bother to do the paper work in the first place.

there are million of cases submit to the government every year and not every case is the same not every case is approve.

Are u serious? Did you not read what I said?

The delays are unacceptable. If you like them good, sit and wait. I will not. Its not a complaint, its a call to action. Seriously if you dont have anything to contribute to this thread, dont post. Simple as that. And I wont even go in to, that you totally skiped the part where you can immigrate much easier by doing it unlawfully, compared to what all of us are doing.

It has been considered, but I'm a little wary of getting on a plane and chaining myself to the gates of the Whitehouse in a comical costume with a loud speaker in my hand .... as it would lead to 1 of 3 outcomes ..... prison .... newspaper interview following handcuffs .... or shot.

Therefore, I'm going to 'bottle' on that idea, and pen a couple of letters. It's a shame we're not all trying move to the UK, as we could all happily sit on top of the Houses of Parliament and know we'd actually get somewhere :jest:

Personally I'm horrified that my Veteran Husband doesn't get any special treatment. Bush said ealier in the year that military spouses should be looked after as they are the support for those who defend the country, well, I don't see the support while I'm being forced to endure separation from my Husband who's already faught for his country twice ... and will probably have to do it again.

I proudly support my Husband, but it would be nice to get some recognition for it, apart from a special phoneline connection to immigration with very nice and supportive people who still can't just 'pull your file'.

I know there's tons of us on here. Infact, I've read some real horror stories of military spouses being deported etc.

This really 'gets my goat'. Maybe in the military spouses case, Bush should've said that we should only get support if we're actually on US soil

Wow, I'm really getting fired up while I write this. Good point Ilya R. .... I read on the Ombudsman site that they suggested (back in July/August) to the USCIS to sort the I-130's immediately when they arrive and not waste the money storing them or the extra manpower with delayed inputting ..... you know what the reply from the USCIS was to that ...... no can do!

It's so nice to think that what it all comes down to is money .... from what I can see ..... they think the foreign spouses are a bane to society (maybe it's a case of Americans should marry Americans), whereas those wanting a work visa can pay an extra $1000 for an expedite, and get their families over in a couple of weeks or something.

If they're just concerned about those with fake marriages, they could implement a system of checks during the initial 2 year period. Instead of all this delay at the beginning, they could make us all prove our relationship in 6 month increments. I'd happily go to immigration every 6 months for further interviews with stacks of relationship proof.

And for those with children ..... there should be nothing more checked apart from DNA. I really feel for the families with kids that are separated ..... however, at this rate, I may be too old to be able to have them by the time I actually get there! ... thanks USCIS.

Sorry for the novel .... am just ranting.
