Hi everyone, this week most likely I have to go to the capital to get a new passport, since mine expired in January. I was wondering if the police certificates must be asked for in person or if I can just send them the forms to be mailed back to me.

Also, Can I use the form that's on my Embassy page or does the form from Packet 3 come signed?

I think you can have someone pick them up for you -- I don't know how it works where you need to get the certificates from, but my fiance's mom is picking up his in his home city/country (since he lives abroad right now) and no one's given her a hard time about it.

Which form are you referring to? The checklist that asks for police certificate etc?

In the Embassy of Brasil there's a request form written to the Federal Police here in Brasil, I thought I had to use this form to make the request.

i am in canada.....called the rcmp about my certificate...was tols both me and my son had to go in person...there was a paper we both had to sign for consent for them to do the search...which thet did...and we both got them the same day..

You dont need that letter from the consulate at all... I got my certificates without them...

You NEED to go in person to get the police records... I dont know how it works the State records in your state, but im sure you can find the info googling it...

The form to request the federal is here. You just need to fill out and delivery in person at the DPF closest to you...

PS (You need one police state record for EACH state you have lived in for more than 6 months after the age 16!!!)

Thanks a lot! Should do that this week, hopefully. At least for Rondonia, Rio will have to wait till I go back to the interview.
