I'm starting to make a list of the things I'd like to plant in the garden this year and would like suggestions. Normally we do onions, tomato, zucchini, yellow squash, okra, corn, eggplant, peppers and then I plant some herbs in pots for the summer. We also have apple & peach trees as well as blackberry, raspberry & gooseberry bushes and some grape vines which hardly ever produce much. Wanting to expand the garden this summer to add some new things. Any suggestions?

Which climate zone are you in ?

We're in South Texas, so we've had cabbage, brussels sprouts, broccoli and onions going since January. We added zucchini, yellow crook-neck squash, cucumber, bell peppers and tomatoes a couple of weeks ago (hopefully they won't get nipped tonight in the frost.) Herbs are still going from last year. Soon to come: Japanese eggplant and okra.

For fruit, we have lemon, banana, lime, tangerine, fig and pomegranate trees. Never tried berries -- that might be interesting.

Your list sounds very good and just about everything's already on it -- but maybe some blackeyed peas, potatoes, carrots or green beans ?

I'd love it if you post some pics of your veggie patch this summer -- maybe we can keep this thread going.

oh that's a really good idea to keep it going so everyone can post pics of their veggie gardens! I just found a list online of veggies that are well adapted to growing in southern Indiana. I think I will try broccoli & cauliflower as well as some napa cabbage maybe some beets & I just read that passionfruit grows well in southern Indiana so I might try planting some of that too. Does it grow on vines or a tree? Never knew the answer to that one

Green beans and peas lots of different varieties and yummy. I think passion fruit is a vine...not sure though.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .
