i know everyone has been saying that the vaccinations are only required for the foreign fiance for the AOS, and are not required before the interview or issuing of the visa...

(As a fiancé(e), you are not required to fulfill this requirement at the time of your medical examination for a fiancé(e) visa. However, you may want to do so. These vaccinations are required when you adjust status following your marriage.)

but the embassy in Spain's official website says this:

The United States immigration law requires immigrant visa applicants to obtain certain vaccinations (listed below) prior to the issuance of an immigrant visa. The physicians who conduct medical examinations of immigrant visa applicants are required to verify that you have met the vaccination requirement, or that it is medically inappropriate for you to receive one or more of the listed vaccinations:

Mumps Measles Rubella Polio Tetanus and diphtheria toxoids Pertussis Influenzae type b (Hib) Hepatitis B Varicella Pneumococcal and Influenza Rotavirus Hepatitis A Meningococcal Human papillomavirus (HPV) and Zoster

In order to assist the physician and avoid delays in the processing of your immigrant visa, you should have the vaccinations records of all family members applying for immigration available at the time of the medical examination

...

so what do you make of it? naturally, getting the vaccinations is not the problem for him, apart from the ones that required 6 months between shots.

well? that seems a direct contraindication. we are worried because we dont want to have to postpone everything for 6 months for a couple of dumb shots that he could just as easily get in the usa. thoughts?

The K-1 visa is a "non-immigrant" visa. It's all in the definition. You're not an immigrant until you file for AOS. Therefore the vaccines are required at AOS interview. :)

K-Visas are NON-Immigrant visas, spain's site says, "prior to the issuance of an immigrant visa" IR-1 and CR-1 visas are Immigrant visas.

The vaccination requirement has to do with people that are immigrants, that is they are being issued a green-card to become a resident. CR-1/IR-1 get green card upon entry to the USA, K-Visas DO-NOT. they need to adjust status from NON-Immigrant to Immigrant. when they do they need to then meet the vaccination requirement.

My Yu had her vaccinations done AFTER she got her K-1 visa.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

I've heard though, that some countries, like Canada, will not issue any visas without vaccines, regardless of non-immigrant status. I'm going to be emailing the consulate in Vancouver to see if this is in fact the case for me!

Yes, it's a non immigrant visa but some countries (like Costa Rica for example) are now requiring K1s to have their vaccinations before they will issue the visa... I know - i just had to have mine today :crying: !! Check your local embassy for details folks :D

thanks so much! that makes sense!

You'll have to get them here for the AOS. If it's cheaper there, then you could get them there before paying a small fortune in the States. My fiance on the K1 got them in his country. They were sooooooooooo much cheaper.

Most you have had as a child anyway.............so I think it's only a few you need.

If you love me, then I have everything I need
