MTL / Gardasil?

I did my medical exam back in January in the US and NEVER the Gardasil vaccine came up.

If it were me, i would go see another doctor.

Plus, if you are already sexually active or too old, the vaccine is a moot point.

You can request a waiver for a vaccine on personal beliefs but i have never heard anyone going that route.

I believe the answer from the consulate was a general one. I dunno, i just think it is insane that they are pushing this vaccine on you.

Once you're inside the US it's not mandatory. But outside it, it is in some countries, Canada being one of them. I wonder how you go about filing a waiver for personal beliefs for a vaccine.

Bah, i found it. You have to pay $545 and specifically qualify.

We have been told by Medisys that only the first is needed. That it happens "all the time". I faxed MTL last week after not hearing back from my email. If I dont receive a response I'll just drop it and hope for the best. If I do hear a response I will post it up as soon as I get it.

Let me state AGAIN that the doctors DO NOT GET ANYTHING OUT OF TELLING YOU THAT YOU NEED IT. They make NO PROFIT from telling you that you need the vaccine, and the fact that women under 27 are required to have in has been confirmed by several of the OFFICIAL physicians.

People who suggest that this is just a money grab and seek another's doctor's opinion are not looking at the whole picture.

Personally, I'd be more concerned that the Doc in Ottawa appears to be SERIOUSLY out of the loop.

Someone needs to get an email back from MTL stating explicitly that Gardasil is needed for women under 27.

I called Dr. Stewart's office today and they told me that I will need to get the vacine.

Someone needs to update Dr. Weiner's office on this!

I made a doctor appointment for tomorrow to get the first of 3 vacinations for Gardasil. I know I only need to get the first one here but I was just wondering at what point to I need all 3?? Before I adjust my status?

As far as I know they can't make you have all the rest of the shots. They can't force you, and it's not required for AOS, so get them finished in the time frame that they're supposed to be done. I think it's 8 weeks after the first one and then another 6 weeks after that for the last one?! I could be wrong though about the timing.

Oh and Galateia- I emailed Vancouver and according to Vancouver all vaccines are mandatory regardless of visa type, K1 or K3. Gardasil is listed on the Packet 3 documents for vaccines that are required. I'm assuming that it would be the same coming from Montreal. But then again you know what they say about assuming right? ~giggles~

The vaccine schedule is:

1st shot - whenever

2nd shot - 2 months later

3rd shot - 6 months later

It would be pretty hard to get all three before AOS unless you planned early. And, if you get one, you might as well get all 3 because whats the points of spending close to $200 on a shot that's going nothing for you.

I have to make my first appointment soon. I hope to have it done before the interview and we'll be filing in April/May.

I just keep thinking - it could be worse!

I just got my first of the three shots for the Gardasil today. $165 sure is a lot of money for it but there isn't any other choice.

SapphireDreams was kindda right with the timing for them..

1st shot - Whenever (for myself - March 18th, 2008)

2nd shot - 2 Months from 1st shot (for myself - May 18th, 2008)

3rd shot - 6 Months from first shot date (for myself - Sept 18th, 2008)

^^ Yes you are right, the last one is 6 months from the first shot. I read the pamphlet. So it's not as long of a wait as I thought.

I think I'll get my first shot in May.

Because a fiancé(e) visa permits the holder to immigrate to the U.S. and marry an American citizen shortly after arrival in the United States, the fiancé(e) must meet some of the requirements of an immigrant visa.

United States immigration law requires immigrant visa applicants to obtain certain vaccinations prior to the issuance of an immigrant visa. Panel physicians who conduct medical examinations of immigrant visa applicants are required to verify that immigrant visa applicants have met the vaccination requirements. See IV Vaccination Requirements for the list of required vaccinations and additional information.

As a fiancé(e), you are not required to fulfill this requirement at the time of your medical examination for a fiancé(e) visa. However, you may want to do so. These vaccinations are required when you adjust status following your marriage.

This all depends on the Consulate and country. I emailed Vancouver, who I'll have my interview through, and they replied that regardless of visa type, K1's and K3's MUST have all vaccinations completed before a visa will be issued.

Almost another week goes by with out a response.
