Question about biometrics

When you get your fingerprints taken, a score appears on the screen.

If the score is too low, they have you retake that specific fingerprint.

By logic, a low score means the fingerprint is not very readable. But what happens if the score doesn't pass multiple times?

I did search through the forums and it seems they shedule another biometrics appointment. If the fp are still not good, then a letter from the police station is required.

Can anybody shed some more light? I am a bit worried. I spent 15 minutes getting my fp done. The tech took them over and over, and two fingers didn't pass. :(

Thank you so much.

Please help.

I see the same questions being asked everyday and they are answered, even though the answers could be found with a little search.

I haven't see any answers anywhere.

Any experience please?

Lili, I had the same experience with my left hand "ring finger". It didn't passed!!! So I ask to the technician why its happened and she smiled and told me "nothing wrong". And I said I think that I have a killer finger because only that finger didn't pass... I hope that it won't be a future problem Don't worry, if something was wrong the tech would told you, I think.

Good luck.

Yeah, I cannot find another logical reason hahahaha I think that they compare each fingerprint with a database and if my finger didn't pass I think that it was because it matched with a fingerprint from another dangerous person... Good day

I had my biometrics last december. And it took almost an hour! two women assisted me in doing so because according to them, the ridges of my fingerprints were too thin. I had to do it several times before the computer can accept my FP. i also asked them about that score and the woman said i should just ignore that. in the end, i had to do a manual fingerprinting (with ink and all) just to make sure.

imagine my surprise when, during my AOS interview, the IO officer asked me to get fingerprints from our local police dept. that's $80 (biometrics fee) well spent

Is the RFE due to your fingerprints needed from your police department? That is so wrong. Couldn't they have ask send you an RFE for that before??

It's part of it. I need to submit 3 more docs: my mother in law birth cert (since she is a co-sponsor), FP from police dept and updated I-693a. i need to finish all my vaccination, have my civil surgeon complete, sign my I-693a & send it back to me in a sealed envelope and then submit all the 3 docs to USCIS office in missouri.

in a way, i wish they just sent me an rfe instead of giving it to me during the aos interview. but hey, who knows how the USCIS works?
