Hello Everyone,

I was shocked to receive an email today that states: On March 5, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). I have been waiting for my NOA2 and it looks like they just skipped right over that step and made an approval. I have not received my notice in the mail yet. Maybe I will get that tomorrow. Elvira and I have the same birthday. It will be great to spend this day together in the Summer. I know we still have more paperwork to do but it is exciting to have some good news:)

Did the approval come from the US Dept of State? I believe the next step is for your fiance to start working on her documents so she can submit them to the US Consulate where your fiance resides. If this is the next step...please please make sure to get her vaccinations in order ASAP. This is where most of the delays can occur.

And once she gets here, no time for honeymoon. Get married asap within 90 days before the visa expires. Keep the wedding simple...do a civil. the objective is to file it IMMEDIATELY. Allow yourselves enough time to gather documents. The more you delay it, the difficult it gets to catch up. Do the honeymoon later. After getting married, file for an i-485 asap before that 90 days has run it's course.

Congratulations to you and Elvira!!!! By the way, I looked at your first post and just wanted to assure you that there should not be any problems with her son getting a K-2. My ex had no problems bringing her 11 year old son with her (from Russia), and she had no documentation of any agreement from her son's father.

I was hoping to find someone who has knowledge of Russian processes. I have a few questions if you do not mind answering. Will it be necessary for her 10 year old Russian son to have a medical exam too? Will she need to pay an extra $131.00 for her son at her interview in addition to her fee of $131.00? Will her son's birth certificate need to be translated into English? will her son need to have a photo taken for the visa? And will he get his own visa or will he be listed on her's?

Thank you in advance for any input that you can share with me regarding these questions...

The answer is yes to each and every question that you asked. :) And he will get his own K-2 visa. I'd be more than happy to try and answer any questions that you might have. But, I would also encourage you to browse the Regional-Russia forum. There, you can tap into the collective wisdom and experience of many VJers who either have been through or are going through what you are now (specific to Russia). As always, you should take everything that you read with the appropriate grain(s) of salt, but I think that you'll be able to get any and all of your questions answered there. Look forward to seeing you around! :)
