Fil-Am Couples on CR1/IR1/K3 Route

Wow! I’m very surprised to realize that the vast majority of Fil-Am couples here on VJ are on a K1 Visa. There’s even a K1 visa guide pinned but no such thing for CR1/IR1 or even K3. :-(

So I thought I’d start a thread for us, on the CR1/IR1/K3 route, where we could ask questions and discuss matters specific to our case.

I'll start...

My wife's case is almost done at NVC. When that gets complete and transferred to US embassy in Manila, what's next?

I know that there's is no packet 3 for CR1 filers. Do we just wait for packet 4 and that's it?

My wife's case was completed at the NVC on 2-28-08. I am patiently awaiting her medical/interview date, i'm not sure how long that will be before we receive the appointment letter.

Is that the packet 4? The appointment letter and medical date?

Congrats on getting that completed at NVC btw.

Once the embassy has an open date for your interview, they will notify NVC who will then send your case (and others) to the embassy and set your appontment date. NVC will send a packet 4 to the sponsor and the embassy will send one to the spouse. It will hav the appintment dates and a list of the paperwork and if it is complete or not. Once the spouse has appontment letter, or downloads page from embassy site, it's time for the St. Luke's visit where the passport, 3 passport size phots, the appointment letter and of course the fee in pesos are needed. Also pay the document verification fee 3-4 aead of embassy interview to avoid any delays. THere is also the 2 sessions at CFO, one of which will have to be after the visa is received so it can be stamped.

Thanks rjp44. I have a much clearer picture now of what happens after NVC.

Also, to all who had been interviewed...

Did you bring copies of I-864, marriage cetificates, NBI clearance, etc to the interview?

I know that we all submitted these paper works here to NVC. Just wondering if the beneficiary brought copies of these documents to the interview just in case.

Im on K-3 and my interview will next week March 12...

Anyways about your questions, i suggest you call NVC or DOS (Dept of State) and ask for your case number...you can check out Sheriff Uling's signature on the numbers to call...and which website to visit to check for your appointment and medical date...

Yep, packet 4 only for K-3 and CR-1/IR-1...just wait for it like 1 to 4 weeks from the time your case is received by the NVC...its usually a week or so...i received mine within that time frame...

anyways, good luck to you on Visa Journey!

2-0. In favor of the boys.

Hi, just wait for your packet 4 to arrived. both of you will receive copies. As rip44 said it contains your appointment letter, interview dates etch. If yo have the packet your wife can walk in at the Sait lukes for medical. Just bring the first 2 pages of your packet (appointment letter and 2nd page that says travel document),pics, passport. Xerox the 2 pages and give St lukes the xerox copy but show them the orig docs because you will also need the Orig docs during the consular interview (My husband sent his copy to me and I used it because his copy arrived 1 month earlier than mine).

During my consular interview, I still brought all the docs needed just in case they need them again though I sent them already before to the NVC, but they didnt ask any docs. I received my Visa 2 days after the interview, if your mailing address is in the province visa will be delivered a little bit later.

When your wife receive her visa, she is reqiured to attend a seminar either at PRISM-taft or SMEC-cubao (it depends if she already attended the seminar before. after which CFO will Stamp a sticker in her passport, without it she is not allowed to go onboard in the Airplane(personnels will check for it) even she have the Visa. I attended my seminar in cubao beacsue CFO has a satellite office there so no need of going to CFO main office. Seminar and Stamp, I did it halfday. Goodluck and God bless you. Keep praying.

I cant remember the exact time frame if how long would it take all the documents to be completed but I can share my experience. First week of May I was notified by NVC that they alraedy received our case from the USCIS and asked my husband(petitioner) to complete and send ds230 etch (husband sent it maybe last week of May). July my hubby received a notification fr NVC, error was done at the same time returned the pages where there were errors hehehe which caused 1 mont delay of the processing. On sept we finally sent the corrected ds230 forms, October case completed according to NVC, (my husband called them). Received packet after 3weeks and Interview scheduled Nov 20 approved, received visa after 2 days. For more information keep on calling the NVC thats what my husband did. Good Luck, keep on praying
