I dont usually get involved with this stuff but how do you know that is when the photo was taken and that is what was happening? That photo depicts soldiers with lubavitcher chassidic jews and a flag they carry around all the time, even in boro park NY and it has nothing to do with politics in israel. The flag says messiah/moshiach and it is representiative of their mission to bring jews back to judaism and eventually bring the messiah. Even if these soldiers wanted to celebrate some military assault, the lubavitchers probably just went up there to celebrate some sort of jewish holiday, and to cheer up the soliders. i cant imagine lubavitchers celebrating an assault. Do you have a link or evidence that is what was happening in this photo?

Thats not a good enough quote for me. The quote isnt with the picture and the source. Lubavitchers (who are pictured here) typically arent for violence. The fact that they are dancing with the soldiers doesnt mean they are celebrating war. The lubavitchers are known for going to the israeli forces and bringing them donuts on chanukah (tradition) etc. This is just what they do. They try to bring back judaism to jews who are probably not so focused on the religious aspect of things. Any person is capable of anything but as a general rule lubavitchers are peaceful people who like to spread joy and happiness and Im fairly certain that is what this picture depicts. No matter what happened with the soliders in the picture before or after....

Call me when they quit dancing in the streets to celebrate terrorist acts.

Mmmmkay....

What does this picture "prove", exactly?

This photo was taken during Israel's assault on Lebanon in 2006 -- you know, the one where the Israeli army managed to slaughter nearly 1200 Arab civilians with their "pinpoint" attacks ?

Lebanon should be thankful to Israel for cleaning the hezbollah scrums from their country.

I am not sure what your personal perception of the Lubavitchers has to do with anything. I am not making up the caption or applying it to a different scene -- this is how it was published by Reuters. Are you next going to ask me to personally escort you to the location where the photo was taken, or collect signed affidavits from the persons shown in the pic ?

In case you don't know, the photographer, Gil Cohen Magen, is a very well-known and incredibly gifted Israeli lensman whose works have been featured not only in Reuters, but in art exhibitions.

He has a webpage which contains this photograph and many more -- including extremely compelling shots of grieving Israelis at funerals of soldiers killed in the conflict. His work not only documents the events as a news photographer, but portrays the huge emotional toll this conflict has taken on the Israeli people.

I have some of the links on this particular photo saved in my other computer, but I will gladly post them Monday when I'm back in the office. Or if you really want to know the truth, you might Google this man's name -- his work is absolutely amazing. Viewing it will be well worth your time (although it won't support your wishful theory that this pic cannot be real.)

Im sure the photo is real, I dont think it was phototshopped or anything like this. I do think the picture was taken out of context. What the lubavitchers have to do with it is that it is their flag and they are leading the dancing. They do this to lift spirits and celebrate judaism. Im sure based on my experience with lubavitchers that these men dressed in orthodox garb are most likely celebrating judaism. Who knows what is going on in the soldiers heads.

####### ????????

First you tried to cast doubt on the circumstances of the photo, questioning when and where it was taken. Then, after I provided you with the Reuters caption, you tried to question whether the two were even related.

You typed 2 paragraphs about how you "can't imagine" Lubavitchers celebrating an assault, and that they "probably" just went to "cheer up" the soldiers, saying they were generally "peaceful people who like to spread joy and happiness," maybe bringing donuts or something.

And now -- confronted with the rest of the photos -- you claim you don't know what these pictures are supposed to tell us. Well it's as plain as day, isn't it ? Your Lubavitchers are signing the shells.

LOL. Textbook.

And were is God in all of this? Two religions that insist on solving problems like this. Lots of peace, love and compassion evident here. Human beings are sick. I think they are driven more by hate, anger and revenge than goodness.

I don't see how the peace process is encoraged by this. Killing only begets more killing and humanity is lost. The youth are taught to hate and try to solve problems with violence. With each passing generation, more hate is built and we get further and further away from a solution.

It's not about religion; it's about real estate.

But I think your last sentence is right on the mark.

(FYI the bloody pics are probably inappropriate for this site -- that's why I don't post stuff like that.)

Nothing wrong about signing a shell that will kill the people who are firing rockets to your country. Too bad the Israeli government didn’t finish the job this time.

word. at least the Israelis aim at military targets. Hamas and Hezbolah just cross their fingers and hope they hit civilians. They are terrorists after all.
