Greetings all,

Since I've read many stories about medical exams and interviews, and etc, I figured it'd be nice to share Ira's story... (I cleaned up some of the really glaring English errors, of which there were few).

This was at A O Meditsina...

First we (me and two other girls) went to room 206 where there was the doctor waiting. She told us to go to pay, and then to go to give blood. The other girls also needed immunizations. Then we went to get chest x-rays. After all that, we were to return to the doctor at the original location.

The doctor simply asked:

1. Did you ever have a serious illness?

2. Were you now, or ever pregnant? Did you have any abortions?

3. Do you have any allergies?

4. Have you ever had any surgeries.

Then she inspected my arms and listened to my heart and breathing. She measured my height and weight.

I did take off my sweater and bra off when they were taking the x-rays. Back at the doctor, only I had to remove my sweater.

The doctor said that I'm healthy. In addition to my packet, they gave me my chest x-rays even though they're not required. They said it's better to have it just in case.

The medical center also was kind enough to give Ira her results the same day. It's a long trip from Ivanovo to Moscow, and her interview isn't for another 11 days. All indications are that the staff were polite and professional.

I don't know if this will help anybody or not, but I'm glad to have had something to share with the community finally. :)

Good luck all,

Z

Sounds like pretty much the same thing Natasha reported to me for her medical a couple of weeks ago, at the same facility. Everyone did seem very nice and polite there, and it was overall a pleasant experience! Good to know that Natsaha's experience wasn't isolated and that your bride's experience was a good one too. Good luck at the interview!

So it seems all clinics are now "nice and polite." Good to know. One step closer!!!

Slim, the OP was talking about the AOM clinic, not the infamous MOM clinic.

Sure, but even MOM has been reported as being "nice" lately.

It was fine in September of 2004 for my wife too. Whoever started this nonsense about one clinic or another probably just got offended that their fiancee has to take off her bra to do a chest x-ray. And maybe a few of the technicians couldn't help but look. As for rudeness, well they are all Russian clinics with Russian employees, so maybe someone took offense to that. As far as I know, nobody has made a claim of being raped or molested.

Wasn't there a guy a while back that said his wife was "molested by instrumentation" or something like that?

I believe you quoted a law from his home state to disprove that he had claim to file suit but he was at least alleging that she was wrongfully touched and prodded by the staff during her medical exam.

There have also been numerous claims (by ladies here already) that there were "more than enough" staff in the room at the time of examination and/or they received "extra" attention during their exam.

I think these medical exams do create an environment where it would be easy to take advantage of a woman. it's the most important medical exam of her life--she's in a situation where the doctor has the power to say whether or not she can be with her fiance/husband. so it's not surprising to me that something like that could possibly happen. :(

Nonsense? Go back and reread the threads. Things were said to the woman that were very sexual and inappropriate. Multiple staff men watched as she had to disrobe and be "examined" and I believe we're taking pelvic exam. There was harassment about marrying an American. Laughing and crude comments.

Things happened that a husband would never want his fiancee/wife to go through. For these reasons I would never allow my wife to go to MOM clinic.

You know, I dont trust any male OBGYN doctors. Too many cases of inappropriate behavior by these doctors. In Russia, medical staff can get away with making crude remarks, sexual jokes, etc. Not in America. They'd be sued immediately. It's sad that Russians have to just go along with the norm and feel humiliated in these situations.

What bothers me to is how their opinion is not to be questioned either.

even with non-OBGYNs it's still hard to convince a russian doctor of something. My friend who's been a vegetarian for twenty years is constantly being instructed by russian doctors that without meat he'll DIE. You have the flu? it's because you don't eat meat! eye infection? you don't eat meat!
