Canadians and AOS Interviews

Hi all,

We just filed for AOS yesterday so I've been back to obsessively reading VJ after a couple of months off after all of the waiting for our K1 before Christmas.

So I've noticed that many Canadians' AOS cases get transferred to the CSC and they get their Green Cards approved without having to go through the interview process. Just wondering if this has been the experience to most of the Canucks who have filed?

Just curious...

I was transfered to CSC and approved without an interview. It was rather a quick process for me. I was happy when it was over as I had already secured a job but we were waiting for either my work authorization or my green card to arrive so I could start working for them.

I had my AOS before the transfers to CSC (two years ago, actually) and the interview wasn't bad at all. :)

There's a memo rebeccajo posted a while back that explains that the reason for being transferred to CSC is a backlog at your interviewing office. My unscientific way of guessing was to look up my office (Hartford) on the USCIS site and see what their times were. "6 months" is usual. Hartford was around 9 months, and we were transferred to CSC and approved without an interview.

But at least according to VJ stats, the initial transfer doesn't seem to have much to do with country of origin.

I'm Canadian, and had an interview. I think it's basically the luck of the draw. Most get sent on to CSC, while some random ones have an interview. We were one of the ones that got chosen. I don't believe it has anything to do with your country of origin. If you look at my timelines, you'll see we had ours fairly quickly. I got a stamp on my passport at the interview, and received my GC within a week of the interview. It was pretty painless. Was over in about 10 min. I can't guarantee this, but when I was looking at timelines when I was going through AOS, I actually thought ours was faster having gone to the interview rather than receiving a transfer.
