In my last post I mentioned how family members and in-laws think that USC are all walking ATM machines.What happens when they come to the USA and the streets are not "paved with gold" like they think.Do they usually tough it out or do they want to go back home.One of my best friends got dumped because he didn't buy his wife a brand new VW Beetle.She said "For 20 years in this country,you should have more money." :o

May 7,2007-USCIS received I-129f
July 24,2007-NOA1 was received
April 21,2008-K-1 visa denied.
June 3,2008-waiver filed at US Consalate in Panama
The interview went well,they told him it will take another 6 months for them to adjudicate the waiver
March 3,2009-US Consulate claims they have no record of our December visit,nor Manuel's interview
March 27,2009-Manuel returned to the consulate for another interrogation(because they forgot about December's interview),and they were really rude !
April 3,2009-US Counsalate asks for more court documents that no longer exist !
June 1,2009-Manuel and I go back to the US consalate AGAIN to give them a letter from the court in Colon along with documents I already gave them last year.I was surprised to see they had two thick files for his case !


June 15,2010-They called Manuel in to take his fingerprints again,still no decision on his case!
June 22,2010-WAIVER APPROVED at 5:00pm
July 19,2010-VISA IN MANUELITO'S HAND at 3:15pm!
July 25,2010-Manuelito arrives at 9:35pm at Logan Intn'l Airport,Boston,MA
August 5,2010-FINALLY MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 23,2010-Filed for AOS at the International Institute of RI $1400!
December 23,2010-Work authorization received.
January 12,2011-RFE

Oh, I thought this thread was about what if our fiances/husbands aren't happy in the U.S. and want to go back. I told my husband (then fiance) that I'd like him to live here for a year and if he wasn't happy we'd move back to Brazil. I lived there for a year so I thought it fair - he agreed. However, he is generally happy here and doesn't want to return to Brazil even to visit now...maybe we'll go back to live - but in the future.

11/2004 - Met in Brazil

09/2006 - Apply for K1

03/2007 - K1 approved

04/2007 - Apply for AOS & EAD

07/2007 - EAD approved

01/2008 - Conditional Residency approved

11/2009 - Apply to remove conditions

02/2010 - Permanent Residency approved

11/2010 - Apply for Citizenship

03/2011 - Citizenship approved

07/2011 - Moved back to Brazil

I also thought this thread was about not being happy or not adjusting to the life style here and wanting to move back to their country. I think you're generalizing when you think that every immigrant come to the States expecting this place to be rich. ####### is up with that? Not everybody that comes here was living in poor conditions.

I also thought this thread was about not being happy or not adjusting to the life style here and wanting to move back to their country. I think you're generalizing when you think that every immigrant come to the States expecting this place to be rich. ####### is up with that? Not everybody that comes here was living in poor conditions.

It is.I just added one of my stories,which happens to be true.My friend's soon to be ex-wife comes from a family that is not poor.

It is.This particular person just decided to stick around and take advantage of the situation.

I've read a few posts from here and other places where people, both man and women, really didn't like the US for whatever reason and want to go back. So it's a legit question.

I've also met people who have been here for a few years and all they do is work their asses of to save some money and go back to their country to never come back.

My husband is ok with it, he's not thrilled about living in the States like a lot of people think he should be. It's just a country where you can have a better way of life but I get it, it doesn't have the "flavor" that our home countries have and that's a big reason to miss it.

It doesn't.Come on,you know how it is in Colombia for Christmas,New Years,and carnaval.Everybody is happy and polite to one another.I myself,have been longing to go back to Panama and stay there for the last 20 years.

My friend's ex-wife just thought he was going to buy her designer clothes, a new car,jewels,and when he didn't she got a major attitude.

Unfortunately,she was able to dig a lot out of him.Even a trip to Paris.The poor guy is besides himself because he still loves her.
