No one is the US can pronounce Mags' first name....

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Well it depends what you mean by "right," of course. He has a British accent and I have an American one, and of course I consider the American pronunciation of my name to be "right" and he considers the British pronunciation of his name to be "right," but other than my pronouncing "Gareth" with an American accent and him pronouncing "Bethany" with a British one, I'd say we're all right.

Ha! Yeah, I can pronounce Rey's name just fine, but he only considers his own hometown accent the correct one. So people in Rio definitely mispronounce his name worse than I do. :)

Same with my name..it takes awhile before Gary say my name straight and still he pronounce it with a slang - Luzviminda which btw my parents get the name after of three large islands of the Philippines: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. :D

He said I do the same with his name  , instead of Ga-ree I say it and it sounds like Ghaa-ri

I prounounce my wife-to-be's first name like she would pronounce it. I struggled with the pronunciation of her first last name but after much practice I am happy to say it rolls off my tongue just fine.

She has a serious problem pronouncing my first name, a fairly common name in English, so she just calls me either ingeniero or amor depending on what her mood is at the time.

Her soon-to-be last name she can not pronounce to save her life. I should probably just change my last name to what it was in the "old country", Andersson. :innocent: It would be easier for her to pronounce.

I'm the USC and my name is Meredith. This name is very difficult for Spanish/Portuguese speakers to pronounce because of the "th" at the end.

My husband has always called me "Amor", so when he does say my name I think it's funny - and YES he does mispronounce it. It's not too bad because he's had practice - most people from Latin America say it a lot worse.

As far as his name....I know that I don't pronounce it like a Spanish/Portuguese speaker, but it's not too off (though you can tell that I'm not Brazilian when I say it). It's funny how a Colombian friend of mine says my husband's name better than I do. Most of my friends mispronounce his name, but they try so that's what is important.

I took his surname and it's not hard to pronounce for Americans.

No problems. Her English is simply perfect.

But I'm still interested in hearing why the OP is known as "Uncle" to his SO. Kinda kinky... and would also like to know if the avatar is an actual photo of the OP. I'll feel pretty horrible laughing about it if it is. But it just reminds me of a Sly Stallone mugshot. :P
