My fiance is waiting for his packets 3 and 4 (they arrive at the same time from embassy in Macedonia), but I have found an "example" packet on the embassy's website. It is a "OF-169" and states that once the packet is received, the applicant must immediately email or fax a filled-out DS-230 part 1. Is this only for "immigrant" visas (in other words NOT a K1)? I am assuming so, since I can't seem to find anyone talking about it around here! But I just wanted to make sure... we don't want to mess anything up!

Also....... his interview is in less than 2 weeks (the 18th-- the thought of which arises both a 'yay' and an 'oh my god that's so soon' from me  ) and I'm worried that he won't receive his packets in time (I know this is weird, but I had emailed the embassy on Monday about the status of his case and they are really good at getting back to people. They quickly emailed back that the packets were mailed out on Monday and also told me his interview date, which was really nice since I need to buy flight tickets-- I'm going to the interview, too.) So I'm worried because the postal system in Kosovo SUCKS and half the time things don't reach their destination. And if they do, they take FOREVER. So I'm wondering... if we have the name and number of the 'embassy approved doctor', can he just go for his medical without his packets? We don't want to run out of time and I have a feeling we will wait forever for this paperwork to arrive... AND: what if he doesn't get the packets before he leaves Kosovo to meet me in Macedonia (next Friday)???? Will they even let him in the embassy for the interview without his packet 4??

Oh my god. I got my tickets today. I leave a week from tomorrow. I've forgotten what his eyes look like!! It's been 7 months! I'm going to just die in his arms. I can't believe this is happening. It's so surreal to want something so bad for so long and then to know that you're actually going to get it... Thank you everyone for being here. It makes me feel less alone.

I guess different consulate applies different rules. I have just received my Packet 3 from the embassy and they require that I send back the DS-230 Part 1 and 2, my passport copy (photographic page) and the completed checklist. The instruction clearly stated that the requirements are for K-1 Non Immigrant Visa. I guess I will do what they requested.

Cheers and good luck on your fiance's interview... and you have a safe trip!

I'll have to admit that so much in your post does not make sense to me. How can there be an interview scheduled if he hasn't received the packet 3 and returned the appropriate forms? There would be no interview date if the Embassy hasn't already received all of the required documents (including the completed DS-230). Yes, it is required for a K-1 visa application. How can they possibly send out the packet 4 at the same time as the packet 3? Again, I am just completely baffled by the way you describe the circumstances. Sorry that I can't help you more. Good luck!

Sorry to baffle you!! The embassy in Macedonia works very differently. Packets 3 and 4 are sent out together, which is fine with me as it speeds everything up! I don't know why they do this, they just do. And the reason I found out the interview date is because I emailed the embassy and they are really nice! They had already mailed out the packets (my fiance just hadn't received them yet) so they had the interview date on file.

The good news is, my fiance received the packets this morning! So we don't have to worry about not having them... Anyway, thanks for your help. Sorry to confuse you!
