I'm getting ready to submit my packet, taking a little longer than I expected to actually get my act together. I got to thinking and given the uncomplicated nature of our situation, is it worth the $$$ plane ticket to fly to Montreal when the time comes? As long as she is confident and has all the supporting materials from the process we will go through, I think it will be fine for her to attend alone, correct? I'm just trying to decide on what debts to pay off and spending $300+ on a plane ticket later this year isn't something I had in mind. Any suggestions? Also, by uncomplicated I'm referring to the lack of criminal records, both of us healthy, and plenty of primary and secondary evidence to support the process.

She can totally go it alone. The USC is not required to be at the interview at all. I want Nick there strictly because..I want him there!

I think it will be fun to have a few days in Montreal, sight seeing, oh and the interview!!!

If you don't think you can afford it, I'm sure she will be just fine on her own.

I wish you both all the luck!!! :)

You know, when I had my interview in MTL this past February, my husband came with me, and it was nice because we got to go through the experience together, and he was there to support me in any way I needed, since I was a little nervous not knowing what to expect. But then again I also didn't know that it wasn't required for him to be there with me. Most of the women I met there, were there alone, I don't know what happened to them as I was first approved and left before them, but if she is confident and prepared, i'm sure she'll be fine.

My husband (then fiance) couldn't get the time off of work so I went to the interview on my own. Absolutely no problem except I had to share the good news of our approval with him over the phone. :)

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I went to my interview alone in Vancouver. My interview was mid November, and we chose for Gene to not attend the interview, and instead come to SK for Christmas that year. I moved down in January. I was in and out in 10 minutes and had the visa in my passport before I left. (Remember, I was in Vancouver!!). I had a lovely mini-vacation myself in Vancouver for 5 days before heading home. While it's nice, particularly if your fiance is nervous, it's not a necessity. A very individual choice.

Amber came to my interview in Vancouver. We were definitely confident in our evidence because we probably had about 47 trees worth of paper and junk with us, but I personally think that having the USC at the interview makes the CO not have any 2nd thoughts about the legitimacy of the visa... USC is definitely not needed there, but if they have any questions they want to ask about hte USC, they can ask the fiance instead of you and if you're not good at interviews, thats a good thing to have them there lol

I just went through the interview process alone and in some ways I'm glad I did. I basically put my case together and have been obsessing about it from the start so I was ready to do it alone. That being said...it would have been great to have my hubby there in Montreal and we totally would have made a mini-vacation out of it but we couldnt justify the $$$. We have spent a small fortune on plane tickets this past year and we couldnt really afford another hit. It's totally your choice...no need for both of you to be there.

Good Luck

The redhead (aka the dude I sleep with, aka Bren) came to MTL with me -we were DCFing- and it was lovely. We didn't have a honeymoon, so this was it. Besides, when I went into dadaaa mode in the interview room, he answered the questions. What a relief!

But the USC is not required to attend the interview. Montreal is worth a visit though!!!!
