I guess I need to say to her I need the following paperwork:

1. Divorce papers so I can get them translated.

2. Police record paperwork for you and Oksana so I can get them translated.

3. Places where you have lived for the last 5 years so I can put them on the 325 form.

4. Name, address, phone # in Russian so they can mail things to you.

5. All data needed on 325 form for Beata and Oksana.

6. ....

Anything else y'all can think of.

I am getting fustrated with myself because I cannot communicate to her what she needs to send to me because of my lack of Russian and my ignorance of the proceedures here.

She is getting fustrated because of her lack of the necessary English to fully understand.

Now, don't y'all fret. I ain't getting mad at her. If anything, I'm trying to keep her patient. I want her here, y'all know the feeling. I did not know what lonely was until I met her. I hate that feeling. I need your help. I ain't afraid to ask. Y'all are a good bunch and the only thing on the net which made me feel like I could make it happen. I got BS (cow patties for those who were offended) from the professional legal side from many. If I need to spend the money, I will but if I can use that money on better things like clothing for them when they arrive and another car because I only have one, I will do that.

If it will help, I will ask permission from her to pm you her email so you can speak to each other in Russian. I think that will give her confidence but I will respect her privacy and ask before I give.

As far as this website goes, "That Dog Hunts!!!"

Ah...you're new here aren't you? :D

Unless you are seriously adverse to filling out a few forms and assembling it into a big packet, don't get a lawyer. About the only reason you'd need one (besides being paperwork adverse) is if you had a situation that you considered non-standard or problematic. Otherwise, all you really need is some patience, a willingness do do a little reading, and this community.

If you can line up one of the wives or fiancee's to talk to her, that would be absolutely golden.

i quoted some stuff about what exactly she'll need for the police report/divorce papers and i am sure my russian is not perfect as i am not a native speaker, but i think she'll understand what i (you!) mean. :)

Another thing you may want to do is have her fill out all the forms herself and get them translated there then sent to you. She can download the G-325 from one of the fiancee sites and print it off, sign it, and send it to you and then she can get her divorce documents, etc., translated and sent to you.

It'll be a lot cheaper for her to do that stuff there than for you to do it here!

Oh, and I just noticed..... you don't need police record stuff just yet. They'll need that later, but not now.

Can't agree here, especially if she's not good making with the English. I'd recommend that she download the G-325A directly from USCIS. The forms page is here, and the direct download link for the G-325A is here. The reason I'd recommend against downloading them from anywhere else is that I've seen some sites with links to really outdated forms. USCIS will RFE on an old form, and you don't want to have to wait for her to send you another one.

The other thing I'd recommend is to just have her sign 2 sets of the forms (8 pages total) and send them to you. That way you have 2 complete copies of original signed forms, and there's no chance that a translator could screw it up. When you get the signed forms just fill them out yourself.

There is an instruction on the form that says "If your native alphabet is in other than Roman letters, write your name in your native alphabet below:" If you wanted to have her fill that section in too, you could. Or you could just pm ekee and ask her how to spell your fiancee's name in Cyrillic. :)

We just filled out the forms over the phone. I asked the question in Russian, she answered in Russian, and I translated it into English. Simple as that. Then I saved the form. Emailed it to my wife. She printed it out at home. Signed it and sent it back via regular mail.

Given the 50% delivery rate from Russia we have seen over the years, I'd invest an extra 80 cents and mail two copies on different days. Everything we send there always arrives in about 10 days. Letters we get from Russia average about a month.

Or it could be worth looking in to the cost of DHL Her City -> USA. Might be around $60 or so for a letter, but probably worth it if you have to wait a month otherwise. Depends really on how fast the OP wants to move on filing.

EDIT: The thought does occur to me too that you could have her fax a blank copy with her signature on it, then fill it in manually and file your petition. You will get an RFE for not having an original signature, but by that time (5 months if you're filing CSC, 2-3 months if VSC) the real form with her real signature could have been sent. Then you just reply to the RFE. Anyone see anything wrong with this approach?

eekee,

I copied what you typed out to send to her. I wish she would look at the website but I am not sure she knows how to look it up. She did not get the copy. R & I emailed her and she said that she replied to her. I think I am dealing with a confidence problem with her. She is an attorney there but she has a slight confidence problem with English. She speaks well and writes ok, nothing a spell checker could not handle. She is afraid of making a mistake in English. I have never witnessed a person which spoke or wrote perfect English. I do not think it is possible.

I just want her to fill the forms out and get them to me so we can start the process. Every day I get more lonely being away from her.

Robert

PS: Thanks for the help!!

I don't know who. She just said yesterday morning that she received an email and she replied to it. I am getting seriously fustrated with her. The only thing on her mind the last few days was the Woman's Day Party with her friends and family. She is pushing my limit.

Int'l Women's Day is HUGE over there, cut her some slack. It's probably the second biggest holiday of the year behind New Years. And don't make the mistake that it's just a second Valentines Day. It really is a huge deal. When she says she's organizing a party with her friends and family, she's probably organizing what you and I would consider to be a prom or wedding reception on the epic-party-o-meter. Cut her a little slack and let her get through the day, and then she'll probably be more available to deal with it.

Get used to this too, and learn how to roll with it. Things that you think are ridiculously important will take a back seat to something you really can't fathom. Or sometimes what you think is important seems to be taking a back seat to nothing at all. It's just how it is with these women. Get used to it or you will be replacing drywall and forehead skin frequently.

Ask me how I know. Oy.

Oh, and you did send her flowers right? RIGHT?! Sweet jeebus tell me you sent her flowers. :D

No, I did not send her flowers. I sent her what she wanted. She gets mad when I send flowers. It's not the fact of the holiday, she used it as an excuse. She is doing strange things when I ask certain questions she has previously answered. I am not sure that she wants to fill out the paperwork. This has been happening for weeks now. She has started not eating, she lives with her parents now and they have food. There are some strange things going on and all together is causing me to question our relationship. She received her gift on Wednesday and afterwards, it was like sometimes, I did not exist. Whatever is going on, I cannot help if I don't know.
