Some people in this thread are really combative, and some are even defensive. I'd like to see more posts like msu17's. Because we're all on the same side here, this fighting seems really silly. Everyone chillax.

actually, we're not.

How so?

Aside from a few Conservative posters in this thread to whom I was not addressing the last post, everyone here is either pro-Obama or pro-Hillary.

They're so close politically. SO close.

but so very far apart. They've polarized the Dems across America. We're coming out in record numbers to defend our choices.

I am very far away from supporting Obama.

But isn't that the problem? Is Hillary campaigning for the party or is she campaigning for herself?

I know you are, and I have no idea why.

Have you ever asked me Alex?

any guy on vj who does not support hillary is a mysoginist, so if you don't support obama it must be because you are racist.

I'm sure you can see that "I have no idea why" is an invitation for an explanation. But if you like:

Why do you despise Obama?

I guess I just assumed it was for the reasons outlined in the articles against him hat you post.

I'm an Ohioan, and while I got loads of brochures and phone calls from Obama, Hilary did more to directly try and win my vote. My medical school invited both sides to come discuss healthcare to the campus. He sent some kid who couldn't even tell us the difference between H's and O's healthcare policy whereas she sent the woman who wrote her healthcare policy. She came and spoke at several local universities numerous times, he came once. He may have outspent her, but in my experience she out campaigned him. Still very impressive how much support he gained between the start of the race to now.

Health care is a really minor issue. Simply because there are too many vested interested to do it at a national level. You can talk about it all you want, but I can't see how anyone will be able to make much more than minor reforms at that level.

Any reform on health care will happen at the state level, which will end up disadvantaging the poorer states. But such is politics.

I beg your pardon?

Healthcare is a minor issue?

It is a major issue that effects millions of people and their quality and security of life in this country. Moreover, it is a critical economic issue.

American auto production has moved from Michigan to Canada because US healthcare cost adds $6500 to value of each US made car and if I remember correctly, only $800/car in Canada.

In my state, family health insurance premium has jumped from $100 to over $500.

Thank you for misreading my statement.

Its a minor issue at the national level. Like it or not, no matter what a candidate says, the chance of effecting the kind of change to bring meaningful health care reform at a national level is really small. And then, the laws will be written by the congress, not the president.

This only place this change is going to happen is in the states. And maybe once enough states jump on the universal health care bandwagon, will the momentum exist to unify it at a national level.

Hillary, and even Obama, can say all they want about healthcare, but they are not going to be able to make it happen on a national level. Well, not yet anyway. Or it will get so much interference from the Republicans that it will be an expensive mess, like Part D.
