Status in the US after marriage

Hi,

I was wondering what status I will I have after I get married on a K1 in the US? Is there a limited time that I can stay in the US until I obtain EAD or AOS or is there no time restriction once I am married?

From what I have read on this forum the timeframe to get an EAD seems to be around 3 months. Is that correct?

What is the approx. timeframe to obtain the AOS?

Once you enter the U.S. with a K-1 Visa, you have to get married within 90 days. This is very important.

After the marriage, you apply for AOS, EAD and AP (all three applications are included in one fee, so you may as well apply for them all). The EAD is usually approved within 2 to 3 months, AP 3 months or more, and AOS can be anywhere from 3 months upward, and can take as long as a year.

You cannot travel outside the U.S. until you either have your Advance Parole or your Green Card.

You should apply for AOS as soon as possible after marriage, although there is no definite time frame.

You need to do AOS to be able to enjoy the privilages of legal permanent resident. Take a look at the Immigration Timelines link at the top of the page, the AOS stats should be helpful.
