A dead puppy is nothing, after you have picked up pieces of your dead buddy, that slept in the bunk next to you. He was blowing off some pent up aggression. Anybody thats had the displeasure of being in a situation like that will probably know what I mean.

That's the point. The military should be helping these people with their frustration and anger over the rigors of combat. That way people like that soldier (and apparently sickos like you) can come home without thinking there is ANY excuse for hurting a baby animal. I'm sorry for what your military experience has apparently done to your humanity. It's not right.

Its not much of a stretch either to go from violently abusing animals to abusing a spouse or child.

It's not any good for the soldiers OR the society they must reenter to allow them to enter the military or leave it with the psychological disorders they've apparently got.

Not uncommon either. There is a similar situation with prisoners. The mentally ill are simply warehoused with everyone else and then released back into society for somebody else to deal with; which usually ends up being an innocent victim.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

On another point - there was a story in the news today about a bill thats being tossed about in the house to basically force insurance companies to provide equivalent care for mental disorders as physical ones. Currently - most insurance plans won't touch mental health problems with a 10 foot pole.

On the other side of it - the government doesn't want to pay for the upkeep of asylums so they close them.

Some kind of psychosis. Did you expect them to look upset/worried? The laughter indicates to me that they can no longer distinguish between appropriate behaviour and behaviour that is outlandish and disturbed. They are filming a puppy that is either already dead and tossed away in such a way as to make one believe it is being killed in an offhand and cavalier fashion (not the behviour of a normal person) or still alive and killed on film (also not the behaviour of a normal person).

Most insurance companies only cover like 12 sessions of talk therapy. Proper therapy takes way more than that. No wonder people are pushed onto taking medication which they may or may not really need.

The treatment of the mentally ill (or rather lack of) probably goes a long way to explain random acts of violence which I think we have already discussed at length. It is disgraceful that these people are left to fend for themselves.

The prisons issue is another one - that it isn't unheard of for a undiagnosed mentally ill person to be on death row. There was one case I heard about in Florida where a guy had been on death row for 20 years for 2 murders he had committed in the 80's. The problem was that a few years after his trial, the guy was clinically diagnosed with schizophrenia (which had it come out at his trial - would likely have changed the verdict and the sentence). This created a problem for the State Authorities as they could no longer execute the man because he was deemed "mentally incompetant", and were actually investigating whether it would be legal to have the guy medicated so that he would then be sane - and could be executed. I didn't find out how that turned out.

DID I SAY THAT I TORTURED ANIMALS!!! What gives you the right to call me a sicko!!! I raise two children by myself. One happens to be autistic/epileptic!!! I have been commended by teachers and doctors on how well I raise them. I don't think that qualifies me as a sicko. My military experience taught me that I CAN overcome any and all obstacles. Some guys that bear witness to the atrocities of war can't cope with what it does to your mind. Its a sad, SAD thing that the government AND civilian sector turn their backs on us as soon as we are out of uniform. Pull the trigger on another human being and see how bad it messes you up. I bet you haven't. I have, and I have to live with it every day until I can beg for forgiveness in front of our father.

I'm sorry you have to live with having done that, and I hope you know that there is help out there for you.

Something has made you think it's reasonable that the guy hurt and killed an animal. That something, apparently, is that you have been so traumatized by military experience that you feel it could justify anything.

I really hope you can find peace and get some help for the burden you are carrying. You don't have to wait until Judgment Day, you know.

Wow. Things only get worse. I hope these idiots realize this tarnishes the US army's reputation.

My ### these guys are suffering battle fatigue / stress. Corporal punishment is needed to rectify this.

firstly, this has nothing to do with the army. it was a marine.

and feel free to step up and apply that corporal punishment to a marine. i'll provide the free popcorn :pop:
