I've tentatively booked the Kings Cross location for 3 nights, but need Rey's approval on spending 85 pounds a night

Not the best location, just FYI. Unless you want cheap drugs and hookers :P

I was thinking that. Nasty area. Try nice Sarf Lahndin - Tooting, for example - instead. (Norf is for snobs.)

Have you been recently? It's totally different place now that the Eurostar terminal is at St. Pancras. Sadly, all the tranny hookers have gone somewhere else to ply their wares.

Not since 2004.

you beat me to saying it's scary at night. I was there at the end of 2006 and it was still pretty trashy. haven't been there since the station was finished with the remodel

Oh well. I booked it per Robin's suggestion. Yell at her if we end up sliced up in a dumpster. :P

Well, if a new station has been finished there since either of you lived there, maybe it's different. Either way, whatever. I'm sure we can't afford a nice area that's also close in. C'est la vie.

Well King's Cross should be a unique London experience for you...

If the hotel is really cheap - you might want to take some earplugs, so you don't have to hear the creaking bedsprings from all the adjacent rooms.

It's a Travelodge.

Where were you all when I had two hours to make these decisions? Devilette and Robin seemed to think it was fine.

Either way, I'm sure whatever I'd picked people would have found something to complain about it.

I don't really know anything about London nor do I have any time at all to learn about it. I've been there once, and done all the touristy #######, and I'm not even going to do them again. Just going to spend a few days there and meet up with a friend. So I don't think the hotel matters so much as long as we can get around easily from there.

You'll be fine, Alex - King's Cross/St. Pancras look a lot better now that they've been refurbished - I pass through there all the time, and feel quite safe :)
