October and November filers-NOA2 to NVC

How does this whole NVC thing work? Do I need to call them? We got our NOA2 last Friday.

Congratulations on the NOA2!

You can call them at 603-334-0700. They will need your receipt number from USCIS and at least your fiance's name and birthdate (I think they may ask for both). It usually takes at least a week from California, but Vermont may be faster. It's easiest to get through after 10 pm Eastern Time. Most people have said they were polite, even if their petition wasn't there yet, but a few have been having some problems. Unfortunately, there is no way to check it online or using an automated phone system.

You can also just wait for the letter. They will send you a letter letting you know they have finished with your petition and sent it on to the consulate. That should give you both their case number and the address of the consulate. Once your petition gets to NVC, they are very quick with it. Anywhere from two days to a week from the timelines I've seen.

Thanks Applewow and Sonoran. :)

I'll wait till the embassy in Barbados has our file. As of now, NVC has not received our docs yet and I don't want to risk delaying anything.

I'll email Barbados to change my SO's mailing address once they receive it. I read threads here that the beneficiary's address only matters at that stage so s/he can receive packets 3 and 4.

honestly, in my opinion coming from our embassy, his address never matters. lol

That's true too, lucy4! :D LOL Isn't your fiance still waiting for packet 3 even after getting his visa? The Caribbean mail system (or lack thereof) is crazy....

I'll email Barbados and get his addy changed and also ask if I can submit the packet 3 requirements to them by email since the mail is super slow, hopefully they allow it (they wouldn't for Iriecat).

oh btw. I think I said this to iriecat before but not to you. They will tell you you cannot email them because they need the signed docs. I did it anyway, while putting the signed docs in the mail via dhl. They replied to my email with an interview date.

I believe you did mention that to me...Iriecat asked Barbados but they won't let her. I will try your approach and just send the pdf copies and see what they say. I don't have anything to lose. :) Thanks!!!

Has anyone's application been stuck at the NVC. Mine has been there for almost three weeks. Other timeline have been in and out of there in less than a week. I am hoping that there isn't a problem.

They told me no too. Well one person did, and the other said yes. I did it anyway. But regardless, it isnt about the email. She (and you) should be sending the signed forms dhl, once the embassy receives your case. I just wouldn't wait around for the packets because Id still be waiting now.

NVC received our paperwork on March 11th.. and claim to have sent it to the London Embassy on March 13th.. It's now March 21st and I've still not had a letter from NVC saying that it's even been sent out to London and whenever I ring the London Embassy they say it's not on their system as of yet.
