I had my AOS interview on Monday. Unfortunately, my case wasn't approvable at the time -- they require another I-864 as I can't use my own assets because I don't have proof that we've lived together for the past 6 months. Also, my FBI name check is stil pending...

One thing that was strange is that, right at the end of the interview, the DAO asked me to surrender my EAD card once I receive my Green Card. He asked if I was working earlier in the interview, but not if I had my EAD...

If anyone has specific questions about this DO, let me know.

If they approve you at the interview, they normally ask you for the card there. So it seems pretty normal that they would want the card after you are approved.

Hope things will get resolved soon for you.

Well, we'll see what happens. I'm gonna try and get my new affidavit done this weekend, then go to the office as soon as I get my EAD card. I don't want to turn up to complete my AOS without it...

I can't believe that I can't find anything.. but that's how it looks. Which is funny, because I kept all of our rent receipts (we lived together for about 14 months before we came to the US) knowing that I'd need it for this. Damned if I can find them though, we just moved house :(

I'm gonna try and find some of it tomorrow.

I did not realize that you did not have the EAD card yet. How can you turn it in if you don't have it (i.e. USCIS did not issue you one)? It does seem strange!

I'm one of the unlucky ones who got their AOS interview before their EAD came...

My wife and I were living abroad at the time (in west Africa), where we had virtually no paperwork other than rent receipts. It would be possible (though a considerable difficulty) to get notarized statements, but in terms of other paperwork I don't think we could come up with anything.

Since you said that you were working, he obviously assumed you have your EAD already....

Did you get the youngish guy? I think he's pretty big on paperwork. He looked through and kept all of ours, including credit card statements, bank statements, utility bills... Everything.

If you need me to send you and your wife a invitation to something, being as I'm local and all, just let me know. I'll even come and take some pictures if you like :P

Make sure you're wearing clean knickers. You never know when you'll be run over by a bus.

He had all my information in front of him.. if anything, I think he realized I didn't have it! He was an older gentleman, he was interested in the proof of joint assets etc. but all I really had for that were joint bank statements.

I'll keep your offer in mind ;)
