and i thought we was gonna get a blast from missliss there....guess she imploded instead

Stop needling her, she has enough on her plate.

Wow, AS that was nice of you! I had tried to post something on here but then lost my Internet connection...I took it as a sign that I should continue to stay away from Off Topic as I have in the past couple days (for the most part). It has been made very apparent to me throughout the various threads on this subject that my opinions are not valued or respected in this debate so I choose not to voice them anymore. There's no sense in getting worked up over the same stuff every day, only to end up at the same results. Isn't that the definition of insanity-repeating the same action over and over again expecting to get different results. I have come to my own personal conclusion that despite what relevant or anecdotal information I provide, there will always be someone (or several someones) to say "yeah, but" rather than just saying, you may have a point there, I don't agree, but we can agree to disagree. Which makes it evident to me that these threads are for the purpose of fighting rather than the exchange of information, and that is something I don't need in my life right at the moment, as Agent Smith said. (F)

I don't think it is a matter of not respecting your opinion, although it may seem that way in the moment. There are points, and counterpoints.....usually it is ok but this debate can get pretty emotional and then we take things to heart.

ET and I have argued on this several times, but he at least has an informed opinion and I respect his arguments. There are some points where we disagree and it will always be that way. It's cool.....for me I felt I have said what I can and I choose to leave it at that for the moment.

It's also a tricky issue for me as my fiance is Latina. I know that when she comes here that average joe thinks she is Mexican.....and with her thick accent and trouble with english (at times but she is really good) that people are going to think certain things. I'm ok with the illegal immigrant debate until it starts spilling over into Mexican bashing.......that kind of sentiment leads to an anti-latino feeling from what I can see. I'm just trying to look out for my love and educate the people around me.

When I travel, I tell people not to mistake the actions of my government for me. The same can be true of other governments. There are some good people out there that get tossed into this debate and sometimes we forget that.

Ok so if I were to say (this is my opinion spelled out)

1. NOT all illegal immigrants take...some contribute without getting anything back thereby doing the system and the country a favor.

2. I know illegals to be extremely hard-working, devoted individuals...definitely harder-working than MOST (not all) Americans I have known, including myself.

3. I don't believe that ALL illegal immigrants are criminals in the same sense as rapists, murderers, and the like...there is no criminal mindset there, their choice to cross over into the US posessed no more criminal intent than my speeding to work every day...I know this from talking to them and knowing them personally, and actually asking the question.

Are my opinions ok? Are they acceptable? Or not because nobody wants to accept that these things might be true?

well said mercury. some might think i was needling her, but i saw her posting for the longest time as i kept refreshing the page. i thought for certain we'd get a book posted by her over what agent smith started as the topic. which, i find ironic that she thanks him in the first sentence and then in the last sentence notes that the topic keeps surfacing.....

This is exactly the reason I'm done with this...I'm not up for analysis under the microscope here? Why did she say this or that or the other? I don't want my posts dissected to the point they've lost their meeting. Thanks for reminding me why I'm not in this anymore...MissLiss OUT!!!

Merc.. well stated. Most wierd thing I encountered so far... was a man from Mexico asking how my "mexican wife crossed the border to marry a GC". intersting.. but sad.

who cares whether they are acceptable or not? opinions are that. It's when one states something as fact, that ppl can and will place forward a counter point. as to your points...

1. how do you state that as fact? i am interested to see how you formulate that.

2. this is a matter of personal perspective by you, I have seen many hard workers in their respective fields. not all are south of our border either.

3. anyone claiming that "ALL" illegals are criminals in being rapists/thieves/killers etc would be very hard pressed to prove that point. not sure who here stated that "ALL" are such. you have link to that? or only got that vibe?

1 i'll grant as being fairly accurate.

2 is disputable. the ones i know in texas are about 50/50 on that.

3 no one said they were in the same league that i'm aware of. however, i do believe it's a different matter, you speeding and them crossing into another country.

so you have your opinions, i have mine. now comes miller time

i think it's very informative. and i'd have to say he's well read on the topic, and we're rapidly becoming so.

hot topic for sure.....led to quite some hostility too

Dude, VJ's been a helluva lot more hostile in the past. I remember when I was a newbie (relatively speaking) some guy in one of the crevo threads gave out his home address to all those people who were threatening to kick his a$$. Those, my friend, were VJ's glory days, BWAHAHA.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
