I can agree with that.......there are some people on both sides that are waaaaayyy out there.

That is very true Merc, I mean I am sure we all have a strong opinion on the subject and not sure I could be swayed from my point of view, but that doesn't mean I think less of someone who doesn't agree

to be honest, I got really irritated several times and for awhile it did change how I looked at certain people....not that it is right to do that, but that was kind of the feeling in the moment.

I was reading an article in the newspaper all about the need for immigration reform and it was saying that average wait times for family based immigration was... oh of course I can't remember the exact figure now.... several years. Like 5-10, and they had mentioned spouses in the same paragraph, don't know where they got those numbers but I hope no one really waits that long for a K3, etc.!

It is a topic that appears way too much anymore.

It's a topic that should have been decisively dealt with in 1986. So there is 20 years of ####### that has been conveniently ignored and stacking up. There is no sweeping it under the carpet and most Americans want it dealt with effectively and in the best interests of the American people now. It hasn't been for too long of a time. Problems don't go away by ignoring them.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

i'm sure we here won't get any slack however

that's really the balancing act......keeping out fraud vs making the process too time consuming and difficult for the real deal marriages.

I know my wait time was very short compared to some.....I guess I would say it was reasonable. Lots of days are difficult and I get through them with some humor and porn jokes, but I really miss mi amor. That being said, I also understand the scrutiny that is placed on us.

I posted on here once that I was more nervous asking the government for permission to marry Lucia than I was nervous about asking her parents permission to marry her.

fortunately that pain goes away my friend......along with several hairs that are not growing back however.

the process is so distracting at the moment and there is so much riding on it.........but once you are finished, for me anyway, there was a lot of relief and those times seem kind of long ago even though they were not. Listen to me hahahaha....Lu is not even here yet! Planning this wedding on my own has replaced the K1 stress lol.

and i thought we was gonna get a blast from missliss there....guess she imploded instead

Stop needling her, she has enough on her plate.

Wow, AS that was nice of you! I had tried to post something on here but then lost my Internet connection...I took it as a sign that I should continue to stay away from Off Topic as I have in the past couple days (for the most part). It has been made very apparent to me throughout the various threads on this subject that my opinions are not valued or respected in this debate so I choose not to voice them anymore. There's no sense in getting worked up over the same stuff every day, only to end up at the same results. Isn't that the definition of insanity-repeating the same action over and over again expecting to get different results. I have come to my own personal conclusion that despite what relevant or anecdotal information I provide, there will always be someone (or several someones) to say "yeah, but" rather than just saying, you may have a point there, I don't agree, but we can agree to disagree. Which makes it evident to me that these threads are for the purpose of fighting rather than the exchange of information, and that is something I don't need in my life right at the moment, as Agent Smith said. Don't let the sunshine spoil your rain...just stand up and COMPLAIN!
